What is with the enshitification of everything this last year? Is it because we didn't actively overthrow the government through the Trump bs? People realize they can actually do whatever they want and 50 ish percent of the country agrees based off of tribalism, 45% just don't give a shit and the last 5% don't really matter? They realized we are all cattle. No matter how mad we get, we have no choice in the system we are in. The fucking boomers/gen xers really set themselves up to be a bunch of selfish twats with no real repercussions.

It's an Oligarchy and a dictatorship under the guise of democracy and freedoms and a majority of people are too busy hating the other 50% of the population yo realize we're getting fucked and manipulated.

Close, it's because they did it, failed, and (so far) suffered no consequences for doing so. Pretty well signaled that it's open season for pulling whatever dystopian totalitarian crap you want and the worst that can happen is it won't work.

Reminder they give zero fucks about children. They want to spread fascism to the internet for everyone in the name of children, but they have zero issues with elementary schoolers getting gunned down and legalizing child labor. Party of small government btw.

I think the current system works best

Parents should be responsible for what their kids do online. Parental controls do exist.

This is the most concerning thing I’ve read today. I don’t understand how we’ve reached this point. If people are concerned about the safety of their children then they need to be more attentive parents. This almost reminds me of that time Apple was going to scan everyone’s photos stored in iCloud in the name of “protecting children” but backed down due to public backlash. Except this somehow is codified into law and lays the roadmap out for other states to do the same. Government mandated online verification systems sounds like a cyberpunk fever dream but I guess the US is slowly working it’s way there.

Uhh just to clear up a misunderstanding, Apple and everyone else already scans your photos in the cloud and compares them to a pre-curated hash of known CSAM. What Apple was trying to do was do the scans on-device instead, for photos outbound to Apple’s iCloud. Supposedly, this was to make sure that your photos weren’t directly scanned by Apple themselves.

Sorry my mistake

lol no problem, the way this was reported definitely made it seem like this was something new when it was really not.
