Ubisoft would be preparing complementary cosmetic content for their new game, Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Who's surprised? Anyone ?

I was going to say... Ubisoft draining every last cent from its dwindling user base? In other news, the sky. It's up there and maybe scheming.

They ran Assassin's Creed into the fucking dirt. I'm not buying this shit. Who cares?

To be fair, the last ones are quite good. It’s sad to see those games with such a toxic business model.

Ubisoft thinks microtransactions is the shit, we just think it's shit.

I'll pass on this one

Cool! Uplay store and microtransactions?! How can pirates defend themselves now!

Truly a return to the roots!

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Assassin’s Creed Mirage seeks to be a return to the roots of the series, which came to light with Altaïr’s adventure in 2007.

Ubisoft will maintain an experience similar to the original, but clues seem to indicate that the company will incorporate a familiar element of modernity.

Ubisoft hasn’t offered many details about it, but fans have found clues to the presence of the possibility of microtransactions in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

“Following the announcement of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, some store pages displayed the game for preorders with an Adults Only ESRB rating.

Additionally, Assassin’s Creed Mirage would have compatibility with Ubisoft Connect and would offer “exclusive rewards” to be enjoyed within the game, without specifying the content.

It is important to mention that at the time of writing this, the image is no longer available on Twitter (X), after Ubisoft filed a copyright claim.

I'm a bot and I'm open source!

I have enjoyed the last couple (no, I don't buy anything from mtx, and I've only gotten the games on deep discount or used). But there is definitely a point in all of them where you hit that Assassin's Creed grind -- the grind that is intentionally made grindier to try and entice you to speed it up by purchasing an indulgence. When it starts to slow the game down to ridiculous levels, that's normally when I stop playing.

It's a shame too, because there is a lot to like otherwise. Not the deepest games by any means, and they'd be leaps and bounds better without the microtransactions and the related adjustments to game balance, but still a lot to like.

From what they've shown, Mirage won't really have that grind, since it's not an RPG game, nor is it as big as the last three games.

I guess it can be different for different people. Maybe I just never reached that “endgame point” but my progress was always marked by custom dialog and new quests in Odyssey, even if that sometimes meant a side quest rather than main quest.

The term ‘grind’ can be either a positive or negative depending on how much someone likes the core game loop. For something like Monster Hunter, it’s used in an appreciative way.

Last Assassin's Creed game I played was Unity. You needed an app on your phone to open the treasure chests. I noped out so fast.

Well that sucks. I was excited for the refocused nature of this sequel too. Guess I'll skip it now.
