As user @Salamendacious@lemmy.world points out in their post:

There are a BUNCH of elections happening this coming Tuesday.

Rather than have the front page be over-loaded with election after election, let's keep it all wrapped up here.

Posts about the elections happening Tuesday will be removed and directed to the MegaPost!

Post as many links and comments in the thread as you want!

Of particular interest to me is the Ohio vote on abortion rights, your results may vary, void where prohibited by law, accept no substitutes, look for the union label, do not taunt happy fun ball.

Posting the Megapost early in the hopes some people will go "Oh, shit, that's THIS Tuesday!!?!??!!"

Go get yourselves voted, people!

Similar numbers to the Marijuana legalization.

Yeah... Abortion got called and is 58/42 currently.

Marijuana is not called yet and is 56/44

So a little closer, but not by much!

While Issue 1 is getting a lot of the focus (deservedly so) in Ohio, also up for vote is Issue 2 for marijuana legalization.

Marijuana should be an easy win. Few are entrenched on blocking it.

You'd think but it's trailing the abortion vote. I'm surprised honestly but they are saying it'll pass as it looks. We'll see.

Apparently AP just called it as a pass as I type this.

Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear reelected to second term in Kentucky, overcoming state's GOP dominance

overcoming state’s GOP dominance

Say what? Nothing is changing- our governor is a Democrat and all the other state offices are Republican, which is how the election results from 2019 went.

Overall, I hope you liked election night coverage!

The plan is to do similar Megaposts through the coming caucuses, primaries, conventions, and, of course, the 2024 general election!

A very tough night for many mainstream journalist and pundits. They will have to work all night long to turn this into the story of why it’s bad for Democrats.

"By winning last night, Democrats have spent all their 'win' tokens and will surely end up losing big because of it." - Some jackass pundit, probably.

Really happy to see all the YES votes happening so far in Ohio! Gosh dannnng let's legalize marijuana already so people stop going to Michigan. I've never once used it but people deserve the right to if they choose so. Also, abortion is healthcare so GTFO you people trying to control pregnant people!

I'm watching Virginia now. The Democratic Party have good odds of winning by both chambers per se CNAnalysis. VPAP points to this too. Even in other places, Republicans are losing.

Kentucky currently has a democratic governor, Andy Beshear, elected in 2019 after the previous governor Matt Bevin tried to screw over teachers, pissing off pretty much everyone. And he still almost won. Beshear has obviously been limited in what he can do in a very republican state, but he's been holding off a lot of the more extreme legislature that the state government's been trying to push. I expect Kentucky to get a lot worse after tomorrow, but that won't stop me from voting.

I fully expect a loss for Beshear in Kentucky and Brandon Presley in Mississippi.

I think the big news for Presley will be how much he can narrow the gap

Races to Watch #4: State Referendums

Reports of a glitch in printed reciepts in one county. Expect voting deniers to use that as proof of fraud.

Can someone give me a overall summary? To me, this is what it looks like now:

  1. Virginia retained control of Senate. Virginia House has flipped to the Democratic Party.
  2. Pressley has almost managed to force a run-off election.
  3. Ohio has supported the rights of women to have abortion and supports access to marijuana.

I'm missing on something about PA, and other things. Let me know and correct me. But, I do know this, it was a big night for democracy and the Democratic Party.

Races to Watch #2: 3 Governors:

Kentucky
Beshear projected to win. Essentially, he's polling higher than when he ran previously.

Louisiana

Those same three states will also be electing Attorneys General and Secretaries of State, both positions that will impact the 2024 elections.

Colorado is pretty quiet right now. We have two measures up for vote. Link to the discussions over at the state politics page.

Proposition II: Retain Nicotine Tax Revenue in Excess of Blue Book Estimate.

Proposition HH Reduce Property Taxes And Voter-approved Revenue Change

There's nothing going on in my part of Oregon, if there had been, we would have had mail in ballots probably 3 weeks ago.

I dropped off my ballot several weeks ago. I usually fill it out immediately and drop it off on my way to work.

Yeah, I like to get mine in and off my plate ASAP. As soon as the voter's pamphlet shows up, I figure out my vote, then when the ballot shows up, it's less to think about.
