Revenge downvoting
Is it considered acceptable to "revenge downvote" by going to a user's profile and downvoting all their posts or comments? I've seen some of this behavior going on and I don't think it reflects very well on the Fediverse or Kbin.
EDIT: Honestly didn't expect this post, of all posts, to be the one to open me up to hate. Thought fedizens were friendlier than that.
Well now, have you considered alot of your posts actually suck?
A quick glance and I see several innocuous posts of your which have not been downvoted and the ones with multiple downvotes (whereon you might well feel brigaded) you're engaging in apologia for fascism.
Not getting into that here, but if you reread my article, you'll see that I'm talking about revenge downvoting by going to someone's profile and downvoting unrelated articles and comments in a petty act of revenge. No offense, but you sound kind of like the kind of people who have been doing this to me (and, I'm sure, others).
I don't care enough to downvote you.
I do know the phenomenon you're talking about, and I'm merely suggesting people actually don't like your posts.
Surely if people were "out to get you" you wouldn't have so many posts with 0 downvotes.
If you are being "brigade downvoted", people are only doing it to the posts where you're being a douche.
Meh, your profile tells me
people don't want to hear about the Mormon Church
people are touchy af about fascism, people standing near fascists, and people who argue that what's happening in Florida isn't technically fascist.
people who downvoted you because of 1 and 2 didn't down vote your whole comment history.
Reddit actually blocked this. Down voting from the profile page had no effect. Only down votes on the actual post or comments mattered.
The way Kbin works, it is trivial to get revenge after an argument by just going to their profile and downvoting them into oblivion. I don't think reputation points matter nearly as much here, but it is annoying.
Or it's just that people don't like you using this platform to promote your cult.
If you don't like a particular religion for some reason, I get that. But if someone is posting stuff about their religion to a sub about their religion, how can you get mad about that?
Is baldness a cult?
Found one of the bigots.
Pointing out the inflammatory reasons that you're being downvoted does not make someone a bigot. Maybe it's time to self reflect and reevaluate why these people find those posts abhorrent. It's pretty clear to most of us just looking through your post history at what has been downvoted the most.
Also the rep point system is bugged right now. Upvotes don't count but boosts count as upvotes. Downvotes work fine.
I fell victim to this phenomenon yesterday. Check out my reputation score. People saw that I'm a Christian conservative and proceeded to downvote a bunch of my contributions that have absolutely nothing to do with religion or politics, which previously had zero downvotes.
I like the idea of making downvotes from the profile page not count.
In theory this could work on Lemmy as well but since you're on kbin I would definitely recommend utilizing kbin's activity feature which lets you view these downvotes (kbin calls them reduces) and who made them. You should check other people's posts on their profile and see if the same people have been mass downvoting for seemingly no reason. Then you can start blocking these people.
As for the idea of making down votes from the profile page not count, that doesn't really seem like a good idea considering that kbin allows posts exclusively from your profile (and Lemmy might add the same in the future) it would essentially make those posts unable to be voted essentially stifling all profile posts' growth.
I'm pretty sure blocking is only one-way, so I think the blocked people would still be able to see your content and downvote it.
Is it? I thought that it cut off communication from them entirely. I mean if that's the case then it seems a bit pointless to even block people if it doesn't go both ways and they can still interact with you, just without you seeing them.
Eh unless you're a sissy little Snowflake who can't look at things you "don't like", to that I say suck it up this is the internet and people will say things that you don't like.
I think @BaldProphet's right about blocking being one-way, but I'm not sure.
In any case, I don't want to block anyone because then I'd be unable to moderate anything they might post to my magazines.
