Palantir was founded by Peter Thiel, which pretty much says it all. This is exactly the kind of person Thiel would hire.
Reading about this conference really brought to mind the bright and well lit corporate boardrooms of Robocop.

Bit of both really. I am however in absolute awe that the Tolkien estate hasn't raised hell on them for using that as their name though.
