If you're serious, study cyber security to start.

Then move towards devops.

Worse case scenario, you'll end up in a 6-figure job making complaints into the void as you write bash scripts to speed up a pipeline by 0.1 second.

Best case scenario, you take down a massive criminal ring that sprouts back up like a weed a few days later.

I always have both an appreciation and judge people who do things like this.

I appreciate it because it's neat that people are willing to go the distance for the fun of it. People who limit themselves to specific tech or libraries. People who code for old tech like those who make brand new "retro" games, or code for Pico-8.

Then the judgement comes in. Just... Jackie chan why.

I still appreciate the dedication!

It's not a option for everyone. I actually changed jobs when my last job started to nickel and dime customers, because it didn't feel right.

Where my buddy stayed because he can't uproot his life and his family. He's pretty numb to the work though.

What happens if you send Portage County Sheriff Bruce Zuchowski a picture of his house with a Kamala sign on it?

Tbh I'll be surprised it this gets any upvotes.

But I grew up with this series on the ol' 8-bit Nintendo. And if you search for it online, there's NO news story about this. I found it because I have a calendar reminder to visit their Kickstarter every few weeks.

The game looks great!

Hopefully this gets them some Lemmy attention and gets them some marketing.

Me:

I recently played the 2014 version and thought it was fantastic! Apparently it was released with bugs during launch, which gave it a lot of bad reviews.

At the end of the game, it prompted the Kickstarter, which how I learned about it!

How much would this criminal get away with?

Roughly $3.00.

The only message I got was cops are unhinged.

I am bottom Shrek.

You don't watch a military movie and trash talk movie goers, threaten to bang their mom and then do a teabag motion when someone dies?

I never played that one! Would you recommend it?

Diablo Immortal made a depressing amount of money.

Us sweats mean nothing when there's a billion dollars on the table for them.

And this isn't even a edgecase. Even Bethesda/Nintendo saw their mobile games print money more than their regular games. Fortunately they have souls and think about their core audience.

Y'all get podcasts from Spotify?

That's weird.

Yep! He's moved employees between the two companies too.

Outside of sports games & racing games, and Death Stranding & Monster energy drinks, what other games have ads?

Not being argumentative. I'm a PC gamer and I'm actually curious if there's like Pizza Hut ads while playing God Of War on a console or something!

My incel cousin refers to women as "chicks and babes". Then if he sees an unattractive woman, refuses to call them anything.

It's really frustrating dealing with him because he constantly whines about his loneliness and isn't aware how his small mindedness is causing people to bail on him.

An actual crunchwrap has never looked like that.

Yum! Pile of sadness! You know what youre getting from Taco Bell.

Having a IRA or 401k.

I'm 40 and the amount of people who kinda know what a IRA is is terrifying. Like, you're gonna die in poverty.

The game is pretty good as of now. Not great. Not something I'll play for a long time. But def solid 30+ hours of action RPG.

And absolutely not something where I'd spend any money on a fucking hat for my character.

My wife, kids and I play video games together by sharing the controller.

We were playing classic SNES games together. Like playing Super Mario World or Super Metroid. My youngest isn't really good at bosses so he hands it off to his older siblings. Where my wife likes to draw various scenes from the game so we can color them later.

It started during the pandemic but we do it once a month now and it's been a great family bonding experience.

The movie Everything Everywhere All at Once really brought a tear to my eye. It ignored a lot of "safe" conventions and just went all in on making a really good film.

This is where I'm conflicted.

I don't use Spotify because I don't believe in ads or paying money for things that are relatively easy to get. Im also not into music, which means my NEED to get anything is pretty low.

Where gaming, Steam is a platform. One could argue the ads are in the store page or all the sales. But there's still a huge pirate community. There's still GoG. All the other drm platforms are miniscule so not going to talk about them.

Where Steam is different is that shit just works on Steam. I can download a game from 2005, install, and I'm at the title screen. If I pirate, I have to do a handful of things to get to the title screen. Same with GoG. My Steamdeck is amazing! I've been actually rethinking building PCs in favor of just getting new Steam Decks.

At my job, we have an error code that is similar to this. On the frontend, it's just like error 123.

But in our internal error logs, it's because the user submitted their credit card, didnt fully confirm, press back, removed all the items out of their cart, removed their credit card, then found their way back to the submit button through the browser history and attempted to submit without a card or a cart. Nothing would submit and no error was shown, but it was UI error.

It's super convoluted. And we absolutely wanted to shoot the tester who gave us this use case.

I am enjoying the popcorn as conservatives gaslight and pretend like it's nothing, as if they weren't standing behind it the whole fucking time.

The rest of America should follow Oregon's standards.

When Republicans walked out, Oregon said Bye Felicia.

Oregon high court says 10 GOP state senators who staged long walkout can’t run for reelection.

Just flag Twitter as a hate platform and delist them?

Let Musky deal with explaining why it isn't and beg, like how Apple set his stupid ass straight.

I lost a few people to Fox News. Neighbors, in-laws.

Maybe lost isn't the right word. Those who tried to rebuild the relationship often start with accusations like "When will you wake up that the libs & immigrants are going to cause Armageddon?" Or some racist bullshit.

Get this in America.

Remember in the 70s when the cigarette industry said their products were safe?

Remember in the 80s when the candy industry said it was the lack of exercise that was the cause of overweight?

Remember in the 90s when the gun industry pointed the blame to personal responsibility as the cause of school shootings?

Maybe just maybe industries can't self regulate. I can go on.

I used to love Starbucks because it was a great place to get coffee and chill. Then the whole anti-unions thing, and local coffee shops did it better making me drop Starbucks.

I used to love Chipotle because of their quality and price. Then portions got weirder. Every week was a new food recall. The ones near me look filthy and sad, and that made me drop Chipotle.

To see both of their names together... Yikes.

Ah that article, that scared me shitless when I first read it while my wife was pregnant. A single "oops" that really doesn't just fuck a person up, it ruins their entire life.

“Death by hyperthermia” is the official designation. When it happens to young children, the facts are often the same: An otherwise loving and attentive parent one day gets busy, or distracted, or upset, or confused by a change in his or her daily routine, and just... forgets a child is in the car. It happens that way somewhere in the United States 15 to 25 times a year, parceled out through the spring, summer and early fall. The season is almost upon us.

If you ever accidentally left food in the microwave for a few hours, this could be you with children.
