Just give them a bit, they're lagging on the whole AI thing right now but they'll catch up.

Lagging? Not sure I'd agree with that. They're leaning hard into Gemini.

Yes, but Gemini is pretty bad. The only thing it has going for it is the half-assed Google integration. Can read your emails, but not your calendar...
Well, I guess the large context window, too, but when the model itself is bad, it's doesn't matter much if it has massive context.

Microsoft was screwing over consumers before Google was even founded.

Robin Williams, as Bill Gates: "Monopoly is just a game, Senator, I want to rule the fucking world!"

"I'm a boss! I own DOS!
Your future is my design!
I'm a god! Own Xbox!
Now there's no one to stop me, the world is mine!"

… do you have the slightest Idea what data your phone sends to Google? Heck, even chrome‘s like a keylogger for them.

And the next time someone says "I got nothing to hide“ just casually ask them to read their messages, mail, call logs, calendar…

They do have something to hide.

Funny thing is, the best phone to de-google are their own pixel phones - grapheneOS is fantastic.

It really is! I am always amazed how rock solid and easy the update process is.

Is the NFC payment issue solved? Or just given up on?

It's been MANY years since I messed with custom roms.

There is no issue from graphenes side really, Google wallet doesn't work because obviously Google doesn't allow it to. nfc payments always worked if you are lucky enough to be with a bank that does it through the bank app itself, there's nothing intrinsic about the os that stops them. There are a few of those online banks/money apps offering this now, some people have said PayPal works? And various other services. If you Google a bit you should find some suggestions. I don't think the convenience is worth the privacy invasion of mobile payments, it defeats the whole point of having a secure os tbh.

Another way to help people care about privacy is to tell them, "Imagine if all the things you watch on 'The Hub' got released and everyone from your workplace to your family knew"

Zilch Nada nothing unless I open Aurora store
