It would be less funny, but since the dog can understand now, the humans could explain that "Yeah, buddy, we know and we want to give you all the food, but it's not good for you and we love you and want you to be healthy even more than we want to give in and give you everything you want.💗"

I have a theory that cuter dogs are less healthy because people are less able to resist their begging and give them food they really shouldn't be eating. Not saying that people love cute dogs more or anything, but I think when their begging is less effective on the subconscious, baby caring-for part of your brain, it's easier to make the right decision and realize that giving dogs random human food is not good for them and not doing them any favours.
Birds are like this too. I wish they could understand a lot of things humans eat will poison them.
But what if they're really just concerned about you as in: "Human, stay away from that poison!"
