Daniel Supernault (creator of Pixelfed) is creating an open source Kbin app. This is massive!

Decided I'm going to go ahead with my Kbin mobile app. Yeah I know i have a lot on the go, but I use Apollo daily, and want a solid Apollo like experience for Kbin. I'm willing to hand over the project to Kbin if they want, and would love to work closely with the developer on this if possible. Will be starting this next week, after my camping trip! It will be open source from the start, and contributors will be gladly welcomed! #kbin

This is wonderful news! Hopefully with the kbin api improvements we could be using a high quality mobile app maybe even this summer? Maybe in the fall?

Wow seems very promising. I visited pixelfed the other day. I love the design. I have faith and trust that this will be the app I use for kbin.

Afaik, PixelFed doesn't have a mobile app either, but their PWA works wonderfully. The performance is so good I forgot I wasn't using a real app.

Edit: Welp, turns out I'm outdated. While PixelFed doesn't have an official app themselves, they do have one in development (beta), and there are various third party apps for it. Thank you for letting me know!

Pixelfed does have an ios/android app but it's currently in beta. It should be out of beta within a month i think. I've used it and it's a pretty decent app.

They actually do now have a mobile app. Your information is outdated

Massive indeed, dansup is super-competent. I love the way this is all going.

Give Daniel's excellent work on PixelFed, I have no doubt his kbin app will be great, as well. (Though a large part of me really wishes someone could convince Christian to rework Apollo to work with kbin/lemmy.)

Can’t think of a better person to build one. Pixelfed is beautiful.

Amazing news, all the interest on kbin is honestly amazing

Is there a way to see that mastodon post directly on kbin? I'm having trouble navigating to it.

You can navigate to the account kbin.social/u/@account@server and then navigate to the posts section of the account.

So currently I am using kbin mostly as a PWA on my phone and it takes away the navigation part of the browser. But this is good to know for future reference, thank you!

Try this also, try searching for “dansup” (his username) in search and his posts should show up. You can then click on “expand” to see the full thread with comments within kbin.

Great to hear! All of the new apps will enrich the ecosystem and bring more federated content to everyone.
