Even self service checkouts ask for tip these days

Sometimes I feel like I can never tell when and when not to tip these days.

When you go through self-check, you should really be tipping yourself.

That's why you just don't ring up one item in your order. Consider it a tip.

I never understood the whole tip thing. They get paid as well as I do, I don't ask for tips when I do my job.

Tipping is a bullshit scam to justify paying workers less by having us subsidize their wages.

Oh... that makes sense now... but I'm still not gonna do it.

I still do it, because I'm a regular at many places and don't want then to spit in my food. Also I do this despite agreeing with everything above, its absolutely anti consumer and anti worker bullshit, but thats the society we live In unfortunately.

I'm not a regular anywhere, so I don't have to worry about that. I order from where it's cheapest or if they have a sale going on, so basically, I almost always order from different places. I don't go out much in restaurants.

I've been in countries that dont do tipping and this option has appeared in card machines there..its infectious

We do ignore all tip requests. 🇫🇮

In Europe, I tip very rarely and only if the service was truly above and beyond. But yeah I saw it on a couple machines now and it sucks, let's hope we don't import this silly trend from America.

It's lame how you're supposed to click no tip with the cashier standing right there staring at you. I've done that a few times when these first started popping up all over, but I always kind of felt like an asshole afterwards. Now I've just accepted the fact that I have all these new tips I have to pay.

How about you maybe... do something to deserve the tip first? It's insane that you get asked for a tip from a self-pickup a-la carte.

That just sounds like a higher price with extra steps.

If I don’t get personal service or I do most of the work, I ain’t tipping.
