Obvious bots applying to become reddit mods

An automod is making posts asking for moderators in subs where the mods have either been purged or left reddit on their own accord. The predictable result is a flood of copypasted applications from bots.

According to the /r/ModCoord thread, those are humans, kind of - the first one was a friend of the only active former mod that had an AI write that text for the lulz and posted it. The second was someone that copied it, hoping for exactly this result. And then, with two identical posts, the memelords took over.

A diverse pool of candidates. Going to be tricky. I did notice no one expressed a passion for ants, though.

Haha.

I also possess 0 years of experience already running this subreddit, which I feel sets me apart from other applicants

I love stupid bots.

I also possess 10 years of experience already not running this subreddit, which I feel sets me apart from other applicants

Who coded this?

You see stupid, I see intentional irony

I would think these are people trolling the request. Good on them

To clarify these are not bots but users expressing their opinion in this fashion. The r/modcoord thread where I saw this has some comments with the background. /r/ModCoord/comments/15rvzb0/mod_team_for_rthingsforants_just_got_removed/

I wonder if there are real users among those who actually are long term subscribers. Because the idea of the users uniformly organizing and doing the same task like ants has a certain appeal.

That's ok, many of the current mods are bots or use bots to neglect their responsibilities.
