It's a Turkey, a bird native to North America. In the US, it's tradition to eat turkey on Thanksgiving Day, a major fall holiday in America which takes place on the lasy Thursday of November, which is tomorrow.
I thought someone would answer quickly, 85 second in this case, so I was ready to put the flare that reads : [solved]
Thanks be given to you dear Leni.

last Thursday of November
Ackchyually, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November.
This is different from the last Thursday, because 2 out of every 7 Novembers tends to have a fifth Thursday.

Hey, including this one!
I asked this yesterday in the matrix room. It appears it's for the US Thanksgiving. It's a turkey btw.
Can't say I'm a fan of a country-specific holiday being featured like this in an intentionally neutral and international instance. Would have much preferred to see something for the trans day of remembrance.
Well I'm the owner of lemmy.world, and I'm Dutch. But still I know what Thanksgiving is, and many users are from the US, so why not?
But I do agree we should also feature days like the Trans day of Remembrance. Maybe we could create a community-created list of special days?
Yeah, a lot of Americans would be with you in that sentiment.
It's not really a neutral international instance though. Try posting non-US news to !news@lemmy.world and see what happens.
Well that's some high grade bullshit. "The World’s Internet Frontpage".
It'll go unnoticed, but I think it's appropriate to remind Americans that theyre co-opting terms like "news" to mean "American news".
