Cops ripped for arresting reporter trying to ask Chrystia Freeland questions

Y'know, assault is generally defined as causing a person to fear for their safety. What these cops were doing was absolutely assault, bumping into someone's shoulder is not. Plus it kinda looks like a football play the aide, Freeland and the cop were playing.

The cops are being bastards here but also fuck David Menzies lmao.

Maybe his history of being arrested by police at other political events played a part in heightened tensions here. Not saying being an intolerable asshole warrants automatic arrest.

Also for anyone unfamiliar with the Toronto Sun, it's our version of the Daily Mail in the UK.

Is there one '* Sun' newspaper that isn't complete drivel? I swear of all the newspaper names, ones ending in sun are more often than not trash.

That's another video of him being arrested for absolutely no good reason, he was shoved just like this time. Got any more fit this pattern?

To what end? Is there a magic number of arrests that will change your opinion on this matter? We both agree the cops were heavy handed in this latest incident. Not the first or last time it's going to happen but the selective pearl clutching is ridiculous.

Did you really post THAT video to change my mind? Did you not watch it first? (I was curious if there were more because it might show a pattern of harassment of this man by the police. )

I posted the video to give additional context to non-canandians and anyone who isn't familiar with the rebel news crowd and their ilk of outrage theatre clowns. No offense but if you were really curious, a quick search would've easily answered your question. Whether you choose to do so or not is not my concern.

Yeah you really aren't doing what you think you're doing here.

Do y’all publish topless pictures too?

The Sunshine girl page was usually the only part of a newspaper that was read by the guys in my school back in the day.

He's such a threat...they lay in wait 100 feet away, while he talks to the 2nd most powerful politician in canada, to trap him with bullshit accusations and charter violations.

Yeah I ain't real familiar with him, but that's irrelevant. This is straight up media intimidation, and the way that aide got out of the way so the cop could do his this thing leads to thoughts of co-ordination. If he was any real threat they wouldn't have hung out 50 feet away waiting, they're apparently her security detail.

Rebel News

Media intimidation

I agree; no one should intimidatw yellow journalists

They never have to do this to CBC journalists, cause they don't ask any questions at all.

Calling Menzies a "reporter" is playing fast and loose with the term. Also, someone tell Pierre to brush up on the charter. You're allowed to have press, but you're not allowed to harass people.

Had a microphone and a cameraman, asking questions, in a public space, of a politician. Sounds like reporter to me, not harassment. What the cop did is though. But why should you care? Nothing at all to every worry about if it's only the civil liberties of people you disagree with get trampled, there's not been cautionary tales about the results or nothing. Honestly, maybe you should "brush up on the Charter", but i don't think you give a shit about it. Fucking thing has so many loopholes and exceptions to personal rights anyways, it's never much too help.

Goodness me. My pearls. They were ripped. However will they recover?

It’s rich that the conservatives are complaining about this, Harper did the same thing. It’s not a party issue it’s a politics issue.

"But Harper" not relevant. Its a fucking cop issue though. The fucking arrogance in those eyes.

That’s my whole fucking point, it’s not relevant. Jesus fucking christ I’m so exhausted by you people.

Said the guy who's first line was "But Harper" when nobody was talking ideology other than fascist cop methodology

I think they were referring to the Toronto Sun being a right bias paper.

Doesn't matter either, that article itself wasn't showing any signs. Unless he thinks it wasn't newsworthy, which definitely would show someone's got a bias.

So there is a thing you can do, publish some non biased articles, then start publishing more and more radical stuff and try to use the neutral as a buffer.

“Yeah , I am saying some crazy hateful shit, but look at my other articles, you can totally trust me and anyone saying different is just trying to discredit me.”

That was not an article, it was just a list of overreactions by right-wing personalities.

That's great. Now watch the video in the article

The article literally has quotes from PP saying this is what happens after 8 years of Trudeau. I’m not arguing with someone who can’t read their sources, this is literally what they want you to be arguing about instead of the fact that every PM in recent memory has used the RCMP as their personal protection squad.

I guess Harper is the one prevented me from sharing this article on Facebook? Aside from that, of course they have a Pierre quote, he's the leader of the opposition. What I meant was, no one in this thread was making in about left or right till "BUT HAARPER" showed up. Like you expect me to say this shit is OK cause Harper did it? I don't, I remember being pissed at his shit too.

He was a bit aggressive. I don't agree with the cop claiming he was assaulted though.
