Trying to get some positivity today

16

I got home one night and noticed one of my ortlieb pannier bags was missing I cycle through a lot of national cycling routes and canals so anyone finding it would 100% have a lucky find as they cost about £60 each and mine was full of waterproofs.

Despite looking for it, I knew it would be gone being bright yellow as well it was hardly going to be unnoticed.

About 2 weeks and I cycled past a man with two dogs I often see, he calls out to me, I figured I'd done something wrong.

Says he has my bag, the dogs were barking at it one day, and he put it in his van, he thought it might be mine as he's seen me before and said I always slow down for the dogs. Kept it in his van I waited, and he handed it to me exactly as I had it, nothing a miss. Offered to give him money for the faff, he just wanted to make sure it went back to the right person.

We always have a bit of chat now on the way home. Super lucky that day

This was something I witnessed in Delhi in 2021. Winters in Delhi are brutal with temperatures plummeting to single digit celsius. I was out for dinner with my family and I noticed a homeless man tucking three stray dogs in to sleep beside him. The homeless could have had just one dog if he craved company, but the fact that he provided sheets and blankets to three dogs spoke of his kindness. This man down on his luck was still being kind. Makes you wonder what we have been doing with our lives.

Wait till you come to Germany o.O

India's temperature can go greater than 30°C during day time. That's the temperature we grew up with unless you live in a hilly or snowy region. I don't know what's the average temperature in Delhi but if it's same as rest of India and it can go down to single digit it must be really fucking chilly since most of us wouldn't be accustomed to that low temperatures.

Not trying to say your temperature is not brutal, single digit Celsius can be really nasty for humans. In Michigan in the USA, it can reach -20c in winter, and -40 with high wind chill. You learn to layer and use wind proof outer layers very quickly!

When I said the winter is brutal, I meant it from my perspective. I live in a place where temperature ranges from 15-35 throughout the year. From my perspective, winter becomes brutal when temperature falls to single digits. I didn’t mean to say that temperature lower than that didn’t exist or people don’t live in lower temperatures. Sorry if you felt offended by that, I genuinely didn’t mean to.

I wasn't offended at all, I was just sympathizing with you, but I must have expressed it poorly because I got those downvotes.

I really liked reading this thread, thank you for making it!

In the USA, there's a huge difference in winter temperatures across the country. In Florida they might consider it cold if it's 10 Celsius, and in Minnesota that would be considered very warm! It's really weird how much the human body can adapt and get used to a temperature. Personally I like it best at 50 fahrenheit / 10 Celsius.

The vet that saved my dog's life. He did a great job rehabilitating her from terrible abuse and neglect related injuries when we rescued her. He gave me a hefty discount and everytime I took her back in later years, he refused to charge me for the visit.

My makerspace is constantly underfunded/undersupplied. A nice patron donated some sandpaper yesterday, because we've been out for a while. It was really sweet!

I started working on a musical side-project a few years ago with two old friends. A few months ago I got a very kind compliment from an artist I'd never heard of, saying they really loved our cover of Toxic. I was feeling a bit down at the time, and hearing that compliment really cheered me up.

Here is an alternative Piped link(s):

This was in a dream I had just now before I woke up.

Someone was attacking me. I was up against a chain link fence and a locked gate in this fence. I was shaking the fence and yelling “Help!”

A man landed in a parachute, then struggled to his feet and shuffled toward me. He could barely walk. Disabled in some way.

He lived in the tall apartment building inside this fenced area, and he had parachuted down to help me. No hope of beating this attacker, who was big and terrifying, but he’d jumped down without hesitation.

Even though it was just a dream, I woke up feeling safe. It felt good knowing someone was listening.
