I have no unread notifications on Slack but still shows

I used the clear all unreads shortcut (shift + esc) and it doesn't go away...

Edit: For anyone having this problem, I'm using GNOME desktop environment and clearing the notifications on the shell removes the bubble on the app icon. Thanks to @EmasXP for the hint.

At least you don't have to use Microsoft teams!

I truly pity people who work at tech companies that use Teams. It's genuinely a horrible app.

Y'know I never thought things could get worse than Skype after MS took over.

Then I used Teams. I'm sorry Skype.

You seem to be using GNOME, right? The dash shows number of notifications in GNOME, not what the app actually reports as number of notification as Slack doesn't have any integration like that on desktop Linux. What you need to do is to clear your desktop notifications history.

Thanks, a previous reply hinted at this as well and it worked. It's a shame it doesn't sync, I used discord and other apps and they all sync properly. I edited my post accordingly.

Looks like you've put a lot of effort into blurring out the individual names😄

That's just basic decency.

I think they mean the left column, where they could've just used one big blur to cover them all at once instead of blurring them individually

Thats a question I've been searching for an answer for ages, what is wrong with php developers?

I think this happens when there's notifications from Slack in the notification center. For some reason it does not seem to sync. Clearing in the notification center is probably going to "fix" the badge counter

Clearing my notifications on GNOME actually worked? You're right, it doesn't sync to the notification center.

I haven't encountered that issue, but I hate it that it gives me a count of bookmarked posts on Slack unless I archive them. I don't need a little 12 by that tab. It doesn't help me in the slightest. What is the point?

Facebook does that to me, I have go to a desktop to clean the red marks even though I read and responded to the message

I swear Facebook does it on purpose in an attempt to drive engagement.

Can you check other options in More just under Threads? Maybe show Unread and Later, and check that sections.

Is there an option under Preferences… to turn off notifications entirely?

Maybe turn off, shut down Slack and reboot your Mac. Then turn Notifications back on..?

My discord has been stuck with one notification for over a year

Time to uninstall and reinstall. That should do it. 👍

Pressing Shift+Esc to mark everything as read sometimes fixes this issue.
