Tyreek Hill is detained by police before Dolphins game. Officer is subsequently placed on leave
apnews.com
Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins was handcuffed and placed face down on a street outside the team’s stadium after he was stopped for speeding and reckless driving Sunday morning before the Dolphins’ first game of the season, an incident that left the star wide receiver baffled and resulted in a police officer being placed on administrative leave.
The officer, who was not identified, was one of at least three involved in detaining Hill. Some fans saw Hill being handcuffed and captured video on their way to the game, and it quickly went viral on social media.
Told after the game that the officer was placed on leave pending the outcome of the investigation, Hill said: “That should tell you everything you need to know.”
Now, if only they'd start doing this for racial profiling of people who aren't millionaires, THEN we'd be getting somewhere!
Not a fan of MDC cops but racial profiling when someone was caught speeding on a 35mph going to the stadium, a well-known route to him as is where he works, should happen to anyone speeding.
The unnecessary violence and moronery following should be the focus, as the reason of the stop was very clear.
Hard to tell but it could just as easily be a rich and entitled strong man trying to bully his way out of a ticket going up against a cop who likes to abuse his power.
I've seen cops get shouted down for pulling over a high school quarterback. So a "star wide receiver" for the state NFL team? Especially when it is clearly already being argued that the cops are why the dolphins loss or didn't win their first game as much?
Remember: The only thing more important than beating on the brown is beating on the poor.
I don't trust cops, and having read that, I don't trust Tyreek Hill. So I guess we'll just see how this pans out.
Both sides can definitely be bad. It's like when Google and MS sue each other. I don't care who wins, I just want them to hurt each other.
And if it wasn't a relatively famous Black man, nothing would have happened, and he'd probably have ended up in the pokie.
C'mon, get real. It's just as likely that they could have murdered him.
The player said the same thing
The only reason this wasn't swept under the rug was because sportball
Something tells me that footage is about to be lost in some unforseen tech problems....
So there is footage.
Then release the fucking video!
Well they did, to many people via foia. Here's the full video with context.
Imo, Hill is not innocent in this but the officer came in way to hot. It turned from a rich asshole pulled over to rich asshole football player getting pulled over and ended with a ticket and a show. Hill didn't initially pull over, was speeding (55 in a 40), gave the cops a hard time and refused to get out of his car when asked. He comments he has a 9mm in the car too but that's pretty irrelevant I think as the cops didn't know that till he stated it when he was on the curb already.
The cop, as usual, escalated at every opportunity, actively threatened every one there, clearly on a power trip till he figured he was going to lose.
I will say one more thing, the entitlement of the players there is disgusting. Neither party is a good group here but wealth prevails. "You know he plays for the dolphins, right?"

Legal breakdown: https://youtu.be/idtaZIdXIsw?si=FyQva13d24zBLBP_
Edit: I might be wrong about the speed, he wasn't charged with speeding. Also it looks like he did actually pull over when asked. Not sure if bike lights were on as audio was off
Thanks!
Wow, Hill is a privileged asshole!
Florida cop-man proving yet again how endemic racism is.
Good thing he is rich and well know so they can do something about it instead of ignoring it like the other thousands of times a month this happens.
just release the dash cam footage
The cop was probably betting against the Dolphins.
There will probably be a release of bodycam footage.
As long as said body cam footage makes the cops look good, otherwise it will be lost due to technical problems.
I believe bystanders got some vid too.
Yup. Both are the same video but the IG one is a bit longer and better quality.

Isn't Florida trying to push a law that would delay body can footage release?
Is this normal?
Yeah, good thing he's on a few days' leave. Hope the fishing's nice.
The issue here is clearly not the enforcement of the law, but handcuffing him face down on the concrete for what is ordinarily a citation. Get it together man
It is harder to arrest people if they're not doing crimes. TV tells me it's not impossible, but I'll argue it's harder.
