My issue is even if that's true it kind of doesn't matter because it's making the people who are ACTUALLY racist/homophobic/name your bigotry flavor feel comfortable enough to be genuinely horrendous. Fucking with the Overton window like that ain't cool.

The toilet seat argument with women. I understand that the toilet seat should be let down, but if I forget. There is no way in hell you should fall in. Most of the time I don't just let the seat down, but also the lid. No complaints there. How the hell is that any different? Either way you have to look first.
When a creator releases something into the public, they no longer control how it's used, they can influence, sure, but not control. It's the wider community's decision now
