foremost proponent of corporate ethics

abandoning a pledge to pay direct suppliers a living wage by 2030

So, the "foremost proponent of corporate ethics" is NOT already paying a living wage? Fucking rofl.

That just shows you the standard of corporate ethics.

Been pretty low since 2016

Has it ever been high?

Corporations inherently have no ethics or morals. There's only regulations and the ethics/morals imposed by the people running it.

"Corporate commitments to environmental problems turn out to just be fluff for positive PR"

When it's time to put the money on the table, those rich assholes want to keep it all to themselves.

Scale back? Wtf

That way, in a few years, they can announce a bigger commitment for positive PR that they have no intention of keeping.

This is why we need legislation. Companies are perfectly happy to green wash. Marketing is cheap.
