After years of just lurking on other social media sites, I've found myself posting here a surprising amount, because

Lemmy's not so bad. You can make sangria memes in the terlet. Course, it's shank or be shanked.

The pressure to fill the vacuum. I get that too. How are you liking the "new" Futurama? Feels exactly like the old Futurama to me.

I'll be honest, the Amy and Kif episode kinda lost me in the back half. I understood what they were going for, but they took Amy to an absolutely annoying extreme, in my opinion.

Not killed my want to keep watching, but this start has felt a little bit rougher than the others.

Optimistic. But the first two episodes were forgettable. Hoping it will get better.

Agreed. The Futurama concept (and voice actors) are super adaptable.

It's just that I was way younger than Fry when the show started. Now I'm closer in age to the professor. Maybe Hermes age.

It's slightly (to excessively) weird that I'm nostalgic about fish out of water stories set 1000 years in the future that are now dated.

I actually haven't been impressed yet... I really do hate how EVERY God damn reboot has to be reliant on the same meta humor. Like I know futurama has always had meta humor, but if I have to hear one more God damn joke about crypto, covid, or streaming services I'm going to throw a brick through my TV.

I get that. First ep laid it on pretty thick. Hopefully it picks up as the season goes on. Still very watchable though even if doesn’t reach the heights that Futurama is known for

Then what will you watch and drink all day?

Generally, the community on Lemmy is pretty great. It's usually filled with like-minded people willing to try out newer technology.

The great thing about Lemmy is the users are in full control to make it whatever we want it to be. We aren't dependent on some profit seeking corporate board of douche bags to make arbitrary decisions in the name of the almighty dollar (or whatever your currency)

Same. I've always lurked on Reddit but I'm trying to be active here.

This platform feels so much more real and what I remember the Internet used to be like. Whenever I go back to Reddit, it feels like the soul of the website was siphoned out when Steve Huffman decided to annihilate the platform

@gronjo45 @The_Picard_Maneuver Reddit was definitely going downhill for a little while but slow enough for me to still be able to enjoy it

After this year's fun and games I signed up with Kbin and quite happy there. When I do occasionally go back to Reddit the difference between the quality of conversation is quite striking (depending on the sub).

I've been thinking about trying Kbin. I'd love to see how the Linux and technology communities are over there. I can't even visit Reddit anymore with how enshittified it became. It seems like there are so many more bots, the quality of the conversation has definitely dropped since the API pricing explosion.

I got red-pilled into F(L)OSS stuff when I read about what was being done to developers. I only had ever used the default proprietary app because I somehow didn't know that alternatives existed. I guess my phone was just for memes and for mindless entertainment then I realized I needed to use SSH and a bash terminal. I might have attached a meme by accident. It is infinitely buffering so I think we'll find out when I post this.

Now that sync and infinity make lemmy a pretty seemless experience its become a lot more viable as a reddit alternative then it was when the protests started.
