This is one use of AI that will improve the world. I've had enough of 'influencers.'

Started classes last week, instructor asked us to say something about ourselves. Cue unrelated dread.

Girl introduced herself, said she was an influencer, etc. Instructor asked her what an influencer was, and after she explained it, he just goes “that just sounds like unemployment with extra steps”

Is AI actually involved in any way or is it just being used as a buzzword? I just see animated advertisements. Like, to me these seem like just mascots.

Yeah that's what it seems like to me. Some avatar ala v-tubers. No difference especially considering a lot of v-tubers avatars are owned by corporations.

It talks about engaging with customers, so maybe they employ an LLM to respond to comments or DMs?

These AI streams just generate content, they might train them to be different for variation.

In the end that's not a real loss in my opinion. You can replace the majority of influencers with no problem.

If they actually start AI generating streams, I could easily see that being a worse problem than regular influencer marketing.

Teleshopping returned anyway, ever saw Instagram or TikTok influencers?

It's just pure spam

You are also starting to see this a lot in adult entertainment. On webcam sites, most of the models from China have filters so you can be talking to a young beautiful woman who is really a 60-year-old overweight woman. Then you also have fully AI models already.
