I suspect that would rapidly heat up the metal and potentially burn that victim :(

9V batteries can't supply a lot of current

Does anyone know if cartillage can melt?

Braising low and slow would be a better method. It won't completely break down, but the rest of the connective tissue should melt in your mouth.

if both of those contacts on their nose are connected together

I need an alarm clock that does this automatically.

Tazer bed?

Nah. Normal taser, with the barbs, fires at you when you don't wake. Better incentive.

This is the equivalent of people going around sticking plungers onto bald heads.

Wouldn't the electricity just go through the metal piercing instead of the (less conductive) flesh, causing no shock?

Having touched a nine volt battery to the metal on my braces when I was a teenager I'm going to bet you'd feel it.
