The new mobile update is such hot garbage, I really wonder how much money they blew clumsily shoving their features into a generic messaging app template rather than just slightly evolving their previously overall pretty nice UI. They didn’t even add a freakin call confirm! Ugh. I cancelled my nitro classic after they rolled it out and I’ve had zero regrets about it, not worth $5 a month let alone the newer $10 tier lmao

I mean, the old UI wasn't great. All they did was separate servers and DMs. I hated it at first too, until I learned the differences, and it's honestly fine.

I think the main complaint is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

I like the old UI. I had no complaints. So why change it? So much developer expense for zero user benefit.

I used that one revert Gist that NTTS talked about and it's been the same as always ever since. If Discord makes an update that removes the old UI then I'll use an old version until they absolutely force me. I will not voluntarily use the new UI, because I think it's not as good, and that's it.

People seem mad at Discord for how their users use it. Yeah it sucks as a knowledge base since you can't search it from a search engine, but it's still easily the best tool for small, privateish communities.

What's the alternative? Honestly asking, discord has been kinda shit and the spam bots recently have gotten out of control

What's shit about it? Spam bots? I only hang out in private servers, including my own, so I don't see any spam or that it doesn't work well.

Revolt, matrix/element, you could try client modifications(ventord or better discord on desktop)

Matrix. Spin up a conduit server, doesn't tale very long and it works great. Clients arent perfect but the next gen clients are available in beta (element x) and will fix a lot of the issues current gen clients have

Hey, I'm out of the loop, haven't touched discord in a year or two.

What has gotten so shit about it?

Feature bloat. Adding lots of stuff that most people arent really asking for, tanking the performance of the app.
