It'll be a blowout as long as you motherfuckers show up to vote against him and any other republicans on your ticket

People need to stay worried, stay alert, and show up to vote. Not just for the presidential election. Anyone taking the time to read posts here has paid attention to what Republicans have wrought over the past few years whenever they've had power.

Folks - never vote Republican, never vote in a way that indirectly benefits Republicans. The strawmen about what progressives might do barely measure up to what the Republicans have done.

Turn out for the midterms, turn out for your piss ant local elections. If you have the time, get involved with assisting a campaign you favor. Obstruct Republican power grabs at every opportunity. It's the only path forward - we've been shown the alternative.

Voting Republican: Not even once.

Folks - never vote Democrat, never vote in a way that indirectly benefits Democrats. The strawmen about what conservatives might do barely measure up to what the Democrats have done.

Fuck your partisan bullshit.

Eat the rich.

That's a remarkably lazy response. (and no less partisan bullshit than what I wrote) Dems could be MUCH better. Despite that, they aren't actively working to roll back rights for women, minorities, and LGBTQ+ among other things.

Fuck your partisan bullshit.

Oh boy someone used the F word. Now I'm convinced.

Edit: I'm not a cheerleader for Democrats. What I am is someone who absolutely despises Republicans. They may both be bad, but they are absolutely not the same.

You missed the point. The lazy was on purpose. I'm not a republican cheerleader either, but I believe they ARE absolutely the same. Guillotine them all.

The lazy was on purpose.

And it continues!

I’m not a republican cheerleader either, but I believe they ARE absolutely the same

I didn't miss it, I got that. I disagree. I'm just less rude about it than you. Goodbye!

And what have Democrats done that you don’t like?

Note that I’m not asking what some blue haired person on Twitter said that you didn’t like, but policy that has been enacted.

I hate how adverse so many democrats are to actually getting out to vote. I've voted in every election I was eligible to vote in yetso many of my peers will casually shrug their shoulders and say they didn't feel like getting out.

I’m not so sure. The Republican Party held its nose and voted for him the first time around and Trump got 70 MILLION votes the second time around. Biden has been fairly effective, however he certainly doesn’t seem to be exciting to too many people, including driving the youth vote, which I believe he will need to pull off another win.

I agree that he isn't exciting but I don't think the president should be exciting. He or she needs to be a capable leader who is good at picking teams otherwise I want to know very little about the day to day of the president's life. More weekly blog post and less constant tweeting.

But that's the thing, Trump, despite being a terrible person and president, was genuinely pretty popular with his voter base. They will more than likely come out to vote, despite his popularity declining a bit. However, Biden, while being a relatively sane, levelheaded president, is not really popular. His VP isn't particularly liked (bad pr or not, that is an issue) and a lot of his voter support seems to be, "well, at least he isn't Trump. " I find that incredibly scary, as it means in my mind that Biden being re-elected isn't such a slam dunk as a lot of the DNC seems to project.

All my neighbors, probably 15 or so rural/suburban pensultuky had 2024 flags and all of them are gone since the trial. He really pissed off a chunk of those folks.

We'll see how they vote should he be the nomination however.

This year I spent two weeks driving around rural Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. During those drives I saw a single Trump yard sign, 2 bumper stickers, and not a single red maga hat.

I think things are quite bad for Trump in visible appearance, but shame disappears in the voting booth, so who knows.

That's the problem now, though. These asshats all think they are celebrities.

Boring is now a feature imo. I'm so fatigued by news cycles, social media, and Trump that a boring candidate sounds fantastic. Unfortunately, we in the U.S. are hooked on controversy and division, which only benefits politicians and corporations.

This is an article from David Frum.

David Frum was a speechwriter for George W. Bush.

Don't trust these fucking people - it sucks, but no time to rest. We work hard and fast and SERIOUSLY until the actual threat of these hateful, ignorant, unapologetic fascists is defeated at the polls.

With Democrats, its never a blow out. They will always find some way to make a race that they have in-the-bag somehow turn competitive by opening some stupid opportunity for Republicans. People could claim that the last presidential elections were blow outs... but when you're running again a goddamn Russian asset, it shouldn't even be remotely close. And let's not forget thag the White House is but one of many, many other races.

Democrats are excellent at snapping defeat from the jaws of victory.

That's what they do best! And I say that as a lifelong Dems. They are just so god awful at messaging and marketing their ideas.

Let's not count chickens before they hatch. Complacency turned the 2016 election on its head.

Not complacency so much as not wanting either of them, and who knows, maybe trump could have listened to advisors and at least been competent. 2020, otoh, was clearly a time to vote.

I think this is underestimating how motivated democrats are to vote for biden

I don't really care for the man but I will vote for him over any shitty neocon fascist.

And that's the key. Literally the only people left of center who aren't voting for him have to twist themselves into an ideological pretzel to avoid it, and they are mad that the GOP makes the decision so obvious.

You can tell they're pissed off that when a guy in a white hood runs against a pro-labor railfan they don't get the chance to be deliberative and critical about their decision to vote. They hate that the decision tree converges on voting for him because it's either outright support for his policies or critical support against fascists. So they come up with these wild reasons not to vote for him and spend inordinate amounts of time denying that they supported outcomes that favor Republicans on the state and local level as a consequence of their defection.

Yeah, but there is a factor to turnout of how much the candidate at the top of the ticket is activating voters. And with articles like this one, saying “trump will surely lose,” that excitability factor only increases in importance.

eh, many folks will be voting for desantis if he can pull off the nomination. President trump had his term in office already
