Israel strikes across Gaza as US says it will block another cease-fire resolution at the UN
apnews.com

The U.S., Israel’s top ally, said it instead hopes to broker a cease-fire and hostage-release agreement between Israel and Hamas, and envisions a wider resolution on the war sparked by the militant group’s Oct. 7 attack. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called Hamas’ demands “delusional.”

Netanyahu also opposes Palestinian statehood, which the U.S. calls a key element in a broader vision for the normalization of relations between Israel and regional heavyweight Saudi Arabia. His Cabinet adopted a declaration Sunday saying Israel “categorically rejects international edicts on a permanent arrangement with the Palestinians” and opposes any unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state.

Netanyahu has vowed to continue the Gaza offensive until Israel achieves a “total victory” over the Hamas militant group and plans to expand it to Gaza’s southernmost city of Rafah, where more than half the enclave’s 2.3 million Palestinians have sought refuge.

Hard to believe there are still people out there saying this is justified...

Whike it's true that Hamas are by no means the good guys, Israel's response to the Hamas attacks is to literally pull a genocide by a different name.

What else do you call straight up bombing buildings and hospitals full of innocent people; sending out kill squads into the streets; destroying any and all infrastructure required to grow and preserve food, and to get potable water; and denying your victims any and all humanitarian aid. Even without the quotes from Netanyahu, Israel's actions say more than their words ever could.

by a different name

It's literally just genocide, cut and dry. (I do understand your point, just emphasizing my view).

Total War.

The term was coined by a general during the American Civil War and has been defined as "A war that is unrestricted in terms of the weapons used, the territory or combatants involved, or the objectives pursued, especially one in which the laws of war are disregarded."

Some kind of reaction was Legitimate, because the attack in Oct were terrible, but Israel went too far, and we’re way past equivalent response

It should be pointed out that Israel is clearly NOT doing this in response to Oct 7th. Hamas was clearly responsible for Oct 7th, and Israel is clearly not attempting to retaliate against Hamas; bombing a building on the off chance that your enemy is within it isn't a counterattack, it's just terrorism, and repeating that action on the scale that Israel is repeating it is not a war, it's genocide.

Some would say the attack on Oct 7th was legitimate, because Israel had already been going too far for almost a century.

The stuff we’re seeing in the past few months is simply what Israel has always done but in a condensed timeframe.

Some would be wrong because they involved innocents.

So you’re against bombing a city during war time?

Should Ukraine not send missiles towards Russia as innocents die?

Were Native American attacks on colonists wrong because the colonists were innocent?

Are members of a state, who allow that state to commit evil and do nothing, or worse vote them into power innocent?

Israelis are responsible for Israel’s actions.

There's a major difference between attacking armed military targets during a war, and bombing hospitals full of innocent people.

If you're going to take all the subtly out of the conversation, then by that same stroke all Palestinians are responsible for the actions of Hamas, which means everything Israel is doing is justifiable, which you and I both know is plain wrong.

You can't have your cake and eat it too - either attacking civilians is always wrong or it isn't - and I'd rather stand on the side of not justifying killing innocent people.

I get where you are coming from truly.

Remember that everyone woke up on 10/8 and kept the innocent hostages that had nothing to do with it.

They did not.

At that point they could have uninvolved they innocents and shown everyone their true intentions, and that they only wanted to involve Israel.

They didn’t.

Let’s be real, 1 phone call to the US government and you would have an extraction team to get our people out easier than a slick shit.

They didn’t.

They chose to keep the innocents.

Fuck hummus and fuck israel

Since you're ok with war crimes, what are you complaining about? if Oct 7 was ok, then what ever retribution Israel drops on Gaza is ok too. Palestinians are responsible for Palestine'd actions.

So, some would say killing and raping civilians is legitimate? Cool.

Yet you're silent on the 30,000 dead civilians Israel has killed in the last few months, and instead say Palestinians should help Israel.

"Equivalent response" would have been raping, killing and torturing civilians.

As long as Hamas is around, they will do that shit again.

Maybe, just maybe, people of Gaza should be helping Israel to get rid of those murderers.

This is exactly why armed resistance is both inevitable and entirely justified. The UN agrees - of whom Israel explicitly refuses to allow record the conflict. Israel kills the record-keepers and then gaslights away the truth.

Fascism rides again under the colors blue and white.

oh so, as long as Hamas just kills random Israeli, it's fine? or is this only apply when the targets of the random killings are white Judeo-Christians?

Is that different name ethnic cleansing? Forced migration? Holodomor? Nakba?

The "hospital bombing" Was a Hamas rocket, probably not intentional. When Hamas fires hundreds of rockets in the general direction of your enemy's population centers, some don't make it all the way there.

sending out kill squads into the streets

Yeah that's a military patrol. Yeah a military will kill their enemies when there's a war. They form up into squads. This is what happens in a war.

destroying any and all infrastructure required to grow and preserve food, and to get potable water; and denying your victims any and all humanitarian aid.

Yes war is destructive. There is humanitarian aid going in. There is a border between Egypt and Gaza, it's mostly just Egypt is being weird causing problems. They had some strange deals going with Hamas, but it looks like that's changing. With the capabilities of Hamas degraded Egypt no longer fears Hamas linking up with the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and causing problems for them. So it's beginning to look like Egypt will start allowing refugees out of Gaza.

Mostly this is about putting pressure on Hamas to release the hostages. These guys are psychopaths and won't do that just because they want to end the war. They don't care what happens to Palestinian civilians as long as they're safe in their underground bunkers. There needs to be a threat to the lives of Hamas themselves to force them to release the hostages. There isn't going to be peace if they continue to hold Israelis hostages. That should be obvious to everyone now.

A lot of the humanitarian problems are because there are so many people in Rafah, a place that doesn't have the infrastructure to handle that many people. The civilians will be evacuated either to what's left of their homes to the north because this was never about ethnic cleansing or Nakba or whatever. Or they can go to Egypt. If Hamas refuses to give up the hostages and surrender, then the only ones in Rafah will be those that want to be there for the last battle of what's left of Hamas.

It's almost over, children.

Reductive logic and lies by omission. Congratulations on defending genocide. Israel has destroyed several major hospitals, routinely shoots unarmed people, bombs places with no military value, and blocks aid from entering Gaza.

The reporting on this is overwhelming at this point. You either condone it or not.

The "hospital bombing" Was a Hamas rocket

This was independently verified as an IDF rocket from multiple sources. Also what about the other 7 hospitals bombed?

Yeah a military will kill their enemies when there's a war.

Snipers are executing children with bullets to the head. Men are released blindfolded to run and be executed via bullet. This is not what many would be considered, "normal war killing"

There is humanitarian aid going in. There is a border between Egypt and Gaza, it's mostly just Egypt is being weird causing problems.

Not only is the IDF stopping aid into Gaza as are Israel citizens.

A lot of the humanitarian problems are because there are so many people in Rafah, a place that doesn't have the infrastructure to handle that many people

Interesting that Israel specifically chose this as a place to evacuate civilians to, and despite that still decided to do both a bombing and ground invasion.

what's left of their homes to the north

There is nothing left. The IDFs entire plan was the destruction of civilian infrastructure and we're already seeing Israeli settlers moving into these western locations.

Said better than I could ever have replied, have a boost on me

I’m so glad that we only had to kill 20,000 innocent people to get to this point

You're quite right, and hyperbole like the comment you replied to helps nobody.
