What is your most stressful, hectic and panic-inducing base-building game?

There are those that help us relax, chill, and unwind.

And then there are the others. Which one stresses you out like no other?

Subnautica, because I'm terrified of deep water.

I really wanted to play this game but I couldn’t handle the phobia stress!

Oxygen Not Included. it's just a constant stream of entropy-driven-crisis mitigation.

my current issue is that part of an oil field deep underground briefly became too hot and since then my base has been slowly filling with toxic sour gas. the only way to get rid of it is to turn it into methane and sulfur by cooling it to -160 degrees but i don't produce enough hydrogen to run the thermal nullifier.

Currently on day 600 on my current file. Still having power and heat regulation issues. Some things never change!

You can always vent the gas to space. Door crushers work great if you don't mind exploits. Sour gas is useless until late game.

You should liquid lock your base to prevent unwanted gases from getting in.

My best tip for oni is after 4 dupes the number of dupes is the difficulty setting. Grow slowly.

i'm like 1400 cycles in on this run :P got eight dupes and just passed a million stored calories, have infinite air, water and copper, so i feel like i should be able to do something about it

I'd shot for supercoolent next. With that and a proper counterflow exchanger a sour gas boiler is just a lot of construction.

Don’t know if it counts: Factorio on deathworld. I thought it’s impossible until I saw dosh beating it and Mods even worse than that.

Does Fortnite count? Playing against cracked out 10 year olds, who build a fortification faster than you can say "fortification" is stressful as fuck

An old favorite of mine is Harvest: Massive Encounter. Expand, harvest, defend, optimize, and eventually get wiped out.

Project Zomboid, because being surprised attacked or swarmed by zombies scares me

You do know 7 days to die? A lot less deadly, first person and much more base building. Still overall a similar concept.

Yeah I really like Zomboid because no matter how established you are, it only takes one fuck-up or unlucky break and you're done for. So the fear never really lets up.

I actually had an experience in that game that I don't think I've ever had in a game before - I was sneaking around at night looting houses, and I got to one house, perfectly normal looking and some instinct in my brain went "nope, there's something bad there" and I just walked away and went home lol.

Sounds like you just need to play an RTS game.

Factorio on death world settings. If not stressful enough install the rampant biters mod.

Against The Storm, They Are Billions, Rimworld and The Last Spell. I often feel like I'm on the brink of losing and it's so satisfying to win in those games.
