X terms of service has right to take back username. X ported his followers over to new account at least, he said. Vaught is still using X, though he did set up account on Threads and Mastodon.

Do you really call Twitter "X"? It sounds like you are talking about porn or you are trying to censure a word 😅😅😅

What the fuck was Elon thinking?

Just call it X… without any reference to its former universally known name so that no one knows wtf you are talking about.

sorry, I X'd out of twitter before X X'd twitter, so I can't actually X about Twitter or X on X,

Did you try Xcreting on X about X?

It’s probably the best way to get re Xcreted.

More often, I've seen articles just ignoring the name change and still using the terms "Twitter" and "tweet/tweeted".

i’m okay with either of either of these since it reinforces the stupidity and futility:

  • x, formerly twitter
  • the company formerly known as twitter

I just deadname it and call it twitter. I will continue to do so until it dies just like I do with facebook.

This is the way. I mean, it still refers to 'tweets' as 'tweets' in the fucking app. What a fucking joke. Elon Musk is such a fucking piece of shit. I hope Zuckerburg beats the shit out of him.

I like calling it "x-twitter", as it is short and makes sense when reading it out.

The company who 'Til Recently was known as Twitter.

Xhitter

(pronounced as shitter) Example: when musk gets a call from the zuck about the fight, he makes excuses about being on the xhitter. Sorry zuck, my ______ is paining and I'm on the xhitter, can't fight.

This was discussed on both communities you posted this two five days ago:

(Sorry for the yiffit links - Lemmy still does not have server-neutral ways to link to posts)

I'm pondering blocking users that post the same links over and over again on different communities. Why do it ?

If they're cross-posted they'll show up only once (though not all apps support this feature yet). I cross-post when I know something is especially relevant to multiple communities. If I don't then someone else will, either not cross-posting or using a different source, meaning it will definitely show up multiple times to people.

Yes, crossposting should be the way forward to avoid needless clutter. Let us hope most apps implement that feature quickly.

X gon take it from ya.

Seriously fuck anybody dumb enough to like this asshole. Musk is a cancer.

how much abuse does it take for them to leave their abuser??

Abusing the abuser won’t negate the abuse :(

Just to say people should absolutely leave their absuers and not give a shit about how it affects them.

But it is vindicating for the abusee at least

Lol what? Yeah don't leave that person who is beating you. That'd be mean to them.....

Social media company took back a username, the technology news I needed to learn, are we reddit now?

So? It's their website and they can have the handles that they want...

Irony?

Since Musk is allegedly about “free speech” - but obviously only if it suits him and your handle isn’t something he wants…

Legally, you are entirely correct.

As an admin of a Lemmy instance though, I can assure you that the entire userbase of Aussie.zone would riot if I decided to simply take over a username because I thought it was cool. And they'd be right to. Even for a guy whose yardstick of outrageous actions is so out of alignment with the norm, this was not cool.

Just want to say, thanks for making aussie.zone such an awesome and well run place!

I honestly can't claim credit for how wholesome the instance is. The users make the place what it is. I spend maybe 15 minutes a day reviewing user account requests and reports. I can say that 0% of the users I've had to ban were locals. The locals are marvellous.

They can, but if they want to keep the respect of the community they shouldn't.

And the respect of the community is quite important on a social media.
