I hope people understand that no one has beef with Tel Aviv left-wingers who hate Netanyahu and have been voting against him and protesting for years. Israel isn’t the right wing assholes who formed an elaborate coalition. The right wing assholes in your country don’t represent you.

I've seen Israeli protests about not getting the hostages back. I haven't seen any about the genocide.

Only Israeli I know that actually spoke out against apartheid and the oppression of Palestinian is Yuval Abraham. Are there others? I hope there are, and they are just afraid to speak up.

To be fair israel is a fascist dictatorship and anyone protesting the Genocide gets arrested.

no one has beef

I’m guessing you have two certain large instances blocked

The number of communities and users and instances I block grows fast when I browse through "all."

(I'm on dbezer bc they won't federate with Threads. Any suggestions for instances with no Threads and folks who can at least spell "nuance" would be appreciated.)

I would like to think that if 70% of my country started killing 30% of my country then I'd do more than just protest, but I suppose it's not much different than standing back and watching the USA or EU sell them weapons. We're not all Aaron Bushnell, willing to throw our bodies into the gears of the machine.

True enough but let's not forget that there's a reason Netanyahu is called the king of Israeli politics. His policies represent a majority of Israel's voting popuation.

he's called that way because he can create a coalition with anyone, even with a non-zionist ultra-orthodox party like the utj.
and even when it seems like he has no chance of getting enough mandates / forming a coalition.

And because he's been Israel's PM for about half the past 30 years. What I want to say is: Enough people like him that he keeps getting reelected, and even now people aren't objecting to his policies but rather because he wants to sidestep democracy. I mean good thing they're trying to defend "democracy" (it's debatable how much an Apartheid state where 5 million people don't have voting rights can call itself a democracy but that aside) but the fact that words like "war crime" or "genocide" don't appear even once in this article (except when talking about October 7th) is very damning.

in the last election 70% of eligible voters voted, 23% voted for the likud (bibi).

and people have been objecting to his policies for years, but didn't believe protesting would help. especially after the 2011 protests changed nothing.

in the last election 70% of eligible voters voted, 23% voted for the likud (bibi).

I'm not talking about Likud alone; I'm talking about the right wing in general since they all seem to agree that they should steal Palestinian land for Lebensraum. Also I was specifically talking about his policies relating to Palestine, not as a whole.

Anyway I haven't seen any evidence that there's significant Israeli opposition against the genocide in Palestine, especially given that the Israeli right wing is actually growing.

Nah, if it's Israel every official's offhand comment is a direct thoughts of all citizens of Israel. /s

The U.S. proportional equivalent would be about 3 million protesters.

The dynamics are the same in the US.

Over half the nation is opposed to any war or acts of aggression, they all want investment in the home country and they want more support to the country instead of spending billions in a war machine that doesn't help anyone except for a very small group of powerful billionaires ..... but the narrative and media is controlled by the same small group who are capable of giving voice to a minority and pretend that they represent the majority.

What war? Has the Gazan armored core been holding out against the Israeli air force for 6 months? Where is the fighting?

They're better ways to describe this, and occupation, and incursion, a punishment. It's not a war

For comparison the Siege of Stalingrad only lasted 6 months. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Stalingrad

This is not about stopping genocide. 90% of Israelis support the army's atrocities in Gaza as well as apartheid.

There are very few Israeli that actually protest the killing of women and children, or any innocent Palestinian, while mostly are just upset the hostages haven't been rescued yet. I support those very few Israeli, who are probably afraid to come out (only one I know of here).
