I pay for Ghost Recon Wildlands. I play the game a lot, rack up hundreds of hours. I go to a location that doesn’t have internet access available and am told I need to go online to play single player campaign. Ubisoft Connect says I need to be online to play the game. Try putting it into Offline mode and it still says I need to be online to activate a game I have paid for years ago and put hundreds of hours into. I use my shitty mobile phone 2G whatever speed to email Ubisoft support about the issue. Ubisoft support tells me to put the Ubisoft client into offline mode.
…do you know who doesn’t have this issue? People who pirate the game.
If I ever play another Ubisoft game, it will be pirated.
Unfortunately my hardware is too old to play games that are like that.
But I've noticed the same with mobile games. My policy is: if that single player game doesn't start without internet access it gets deleted.
They denuvo the shit out of their games, so it's actually pretty hard to pirate them nowadays.
In the short term since Denuvo is usually only when the game is released and then removed thereafter.
I’ll gladly wait especially since I’m not at all on board with Ubisoft and Rockstar’s executives thinking they deserve more than $70 for these games their companies are making.
AC Origins player here, made the switch to pirate version cause it's Denuvoless and works fully offline, without CPU spikes/frame drops. RAM usage also decreased a little.
Why would pirates do this?
They are all communists that want to steal your children.

The problem nowadays is that denuvo is actually effective - many titles that are rather popular but have denuvo DRM haven't been cracked for years at this point, so the only practical choice is to wait for years until those game companies stop their contract subscriptions and DRM gets removed.
DRM just slows down how many people pirate stuff by making it non-trivial. If piracy was extremely simple and completely without risk everyone would be doing it, which in turn would start to cause harmful effects that they justify all anti-piracy stuff. I dont think corporations see it that way though, they are likely just bunch of idiots that want to squeeze even more from us.
Not defending drms or generally any anti-piracy stuff, but humanity might not be quite ready for 100% free information. Hopefully it will eventually happen though. All of you are fighting for our freedom by not giving up on this.
DRM employed by streaming services has never made it less trivial to download new movies and shows. I can still get all the shows and movies I want just minutes after they release on streaming. DRM just hurts paying customers.
