If the trials go into 2024 and the Republican party gains power in both houses I would fully expect Congress to gut and neuter the DOJ before the conclusion of the trials. I think that's why we're seeing all the Jan 6th fake elector cases pop up the same week Trump got his letter from Jack Smith. They know there's a good chance if the verdicts aren't read in the next 16 months that they may never be.
