Mood, haven't owned a TV in 3 years, my mental health has never been better

I have a TV but never even turn on, i don't even know if it still works lol I watch all my shows on streaming, in my phone or computer

Ours just plays Family Guy/American Dad/Futurama on repeat.

I use my TV to just work as a comp monitor.

You know there's news on the internet, right?

Yes, but there's a difference between hearing the news as background noise and actively looking for it

You don't have like, the evening news?

News are sporadically placed in-between shows, usually at set times, and ads exist just to give a quick overview over whatever will be reported on, which is basically a very summarized version of the reports, which means we're back at me not being able to escape the news depression vortex.

I own one but I use it for gaming and occasionally to watch local weather, but only for major weather events.

Me knowing the right take is exactly the opposite of whatever my mom says in the family group chat

I'll throw down a recommendation for ground news (app). They take the news, organize it and show you the same article from left center and right. They show you your blind spots in news as well (stuff that is on the other side of you).

Anyone have anything against it or other recommendations?

I've found ground news to have a right slant. Both the owner and developer have traditionally right leaning interests. I don't find the stories that get "promoted" to the front of ground ot be all that neutral.

I could be talking out my ass, but after trying to use ground for a few weeks, I felt that I was seeing more and more right wing talking points than what I consider neutral news.

I like the concept but I want something I can run locally (and update by myself) in a docker container or a Virtual Machine. I'm tired of online service changing their products for the worse or increasing prices because they feel like it.

I kinda like to block political memes too but I'm keeping them around for now since Lemmy doesn't have enough content so I'll just downvote but still browse all. This one gets points in my book for being meta, unspecific, and not being a screenshot of another social media site that I'm not on specifically because I don't want to see that shit.

I get all my news from both MeanwhileOnGrad and The Right Can't Meme to even things out.
