I assume it's about the recent strike of the big 3 all at the same time. Also starting out slow with largely symbolic strikes, until companies didn't play ball then striking the most profitable plants, and backing off when negotiations were going well.

It was a contingency when world war 2 ended that the boards in Germany be made in part of union members, it was a US idea
VW tried twice to unionize their US factory in Chattanooga. Both times the workers voted against unionisation.
