Amazon is more profitable than ever after a year of mass layoffs::The tech giant posted the largest quarterly operating income in its history on the back of cost-cutting and faster revenue growth in key divisions.

If this isn't a sign for Amazon workers that their contribution is undervalued even at their current compensation, I don't know what is. For fucks sake, unionize and become millionaires!

Cutting to profitability. A tired and true way to make the books look good.

(Not a typo)

Till shit starts falling apart and then gradually customers get aggravated and move away to something else.

All the news today about them reminded me to cancel my prime membership. Thanks, Barbara Streisand!

I always sign up for the free Prime trials just so I can get the satisfaction of cancelling.

How often does that happen? What's the duration?

I was mostly being facetious, I try not to use Amazon. My wife does off and on and has used a free trial 3-4 times a year.

The trials are 30 days (in the US) and years ago, 4-5, I would just use a throwaway email and do a new trial every 30 days to keep Prime. Not sure if they guard against that at all now or not.

They offer me "free trials" every few months when i try to purchase something. which i accept and then promptly cancel so I don't forget about it. It's helpful for me since there are some things i need to purchase regularly on there. No throwaway required.

Good to know, glad you take advantage! Amazon is one of several companies I avoid on ethical grounds but I fault nobody else for shopping there.

But you know their product is going to go to shit in a few quarters, so be sure to sell high.

Almost all of it is AWS. Which has a what, a 30% margin? Your money at work.

If you stop putting fuel in your car, the first few miles are very cheap i must say....

i mean yeah duh. that doesn't mean it's right or good to do mass layoffs

Haven't ordered anything from their site for years and never felt better

Looking forward to this year's layoffs/profits -amazon investors
