Wisconsin state representative says abortion isn’t health care and he knows because he was a veterinarian

10 years ago my daughter had an ectopic pregnancy. Without an "abortion" (I wish we would stop calling it that), she would have died. Without "health care", she would be dead.

Now I have a daughter, and a granddaughter that's almost 2. Republicans wish they were both dead. When I see and read about things like this, I understand intuitively that these people wish my daughter was dead, and my granddaughter never existed. It's unfathomable to me, but that's what these people wish upon my family.

And part of me is no better than they are.

“I did thousands of ultrasounds on animals, determining pregnancy and that sort of thing” Kitchens ascertained. “I think I know mammalian fetal development better than probably anyone here. And in my mind, there’s absolutely no question that’s a life.”

Wtaf. I guess being a vet made this guy god and let him decide that pregnancy is no longer dangerous and never could need to be ended for any reason whatsoever. 🙄

This guy sounds real confused. He looked at bat and dog fetuses and thought that those were lifes? How many "lifes" did he terminate during his practice?

It really disturbs me that, despite the serious nature of the abortion/women’s healthcare debate, I’m sitting here thinking up veterinarian jokes.

Oh Doggon it!! I just can't think of anything!

I can't get over the fact that women actually vote for these men. if no women vote for these creeps, they all lose in a landslide.

I seriously want to know the thought process that says "this politician thinks I'm sentient livestock, I'll vote for him".

It's not my problem until it is. I'll never have an abortion. My abortion is different. I never had pregnancy complications so it can't happen too often. Fuck you got mine

Aside from his idiotic and harmful statement, I wonder if this Republican was ever a half-decent veterinarian.

I have this feeling he wasn't so great at it. But I digress - forgive me.

"I never did a brain surgery on a cat, therefore humans don't need them either."

Do you hear how ridiculous that sounds?

I read vegetarian at first and was confused, but not overly surprised they would think that a valid claim.
