Larry Giberson joined the mob in the tunnel during the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.

45

Giberson’s mother said that for her son, the 2020 election was like watching his favorite baseball team on a World Series run.

Both of them are fucking morons.

Giberson, a political science major who specialized in "American ideas and institutions,” told FBI special agents he wanted to be at the Capitol to "support the parties that were making decisions regarding the certification of the electoral college, and that he was there to encourage what he believed to be the 'correct' certification."

Further evidence to bolster the point

Literally the problem with American politics. If you make a political party your identity, any attack on the politicians becomes a personal attack.

Does this guy really need the national fame with MAGA that comes with making it on NBC? I don't get it. We've already had 400 convictions. This is a random kid that pled guilty to civil disorder and got 2 months in prison.

If anything, an article should question how someone whose allocution contradicts the evidence got 2 months despite the prosecutor pushing for a year.

It feels like the same sort of encouragement mass shooters get from the media. "Want to have your name everywhere? Do something atrocious!"

Exactly. It should be anonymized in the media. "400 traitors, terrorists, and bigots have faced justice for their 1/6 actions, with more convictions coming in every day" <--that is the headline we should have. Few names, few faces, just facts.

I have mixed feelings. With mass shooters part of the reason for calls for anonymity is that they’re dead. For these people they’re alive and public knowledge of their crimes can give further consequences leading into my main mixed feelings: on one hand with some people like Brock (the rapist) Turner this can be a way of society providing the punishment that a pay to win justice system didn’t provide out of privilege, but on the other hand some people support these crimes and will celebrate them and also is it right to do and does it hinder rehabilitation?

Idk I think you’re probably right, but I do think that there’s more to it than just the name in the news thing

For these people they’re alive and public knowledge of their crimes can give further consequences leading into my main mixed feelings

When it's a politically-motivated crime, shame just doesn't work as a punishment or deterrent. Instead, it's a medal to put on their chest.

Brock (the rapist) Turner this can be a way of society providing the punishment that a pay to win justice system didn’t provide out of privilege

I think exile (or its equivalent) fall under Cruel and Unusual punishment. I think we shouldn't look for mobs or media to be the forces of justice; we should be demanding the justice system to clean its act up, and holding them accountable for these miscarriages.

but on the other hand some people support these crimes and will celebrate them and also is it right to do and does it hinder rehabilitation?

This here. We can't stop these criminals being treated like heroes for attempting to replace our democracy with tyranny. We can stop advertising that they did what they did.

Yeah, I want a wall of shame somewhere so that employers, social media, dating apps, etc....know where to look these people up.

So sad. Fuck around and find out. Love donnie so hard that you come out of Ivy league with a rap sheet.

I hope every single one of those traitors gets prison time. Bunch of idiots.

I really want all of them to just get convicted of felonies so they can't own guns and vote anymore.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

WASHINGTON — A then-Princeton University student who yelled "drag them out" while he joined rioters trying to storm the U.S. Capitol was sentenced to two months in federal prison Wednesday, according to court records.

Giberson was a sophomore during the Jan. 6 attack, when he "participated in coordinated pushing and pulling against the police," according to a government sentencing memo, which said that at one point he even chanted “drag them out!” as rioters assaulted officers.

Giberson told the FBI that he "saw the fear" in former Officer Michael Fanone's eyes as he was dragged away by the mob.

His defense attorney said Giberson "studied the issues surrounding the 2020 [election] and concluded that state actors had interfered with the electoral process in unconstitutional ways."

Giberson's mother said that for her son, the 2020 election was like watching his favorite baseball team on a World Series run.

I feel Larry wanted to be a part of something that he was passionate about, I know he had no intent to be caught up with the wrong crowd," she wrote.

The original article contains 412 words, the summary contains 178 words. Saved 57%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

He got a 2 month sentence I think the punishment fits the crime although it should be highered slightly considering he did assault a poilce officer prehaps 5 or 6 months would work prehaps maybe some compensation or a apology as well

“Attack” - people walking up in goofy costumes and putting their feet up on corrupt politicians’ desks. Attacked.

Yeah that happened.

Law enforcement was also beaten, crushed, feces smeared on walls and property destroyed. SWAT larpers ran through the facility with restraint zipties and a literal gallows was erected outside chanting for the death of the VP.

Attacked.

The gaslighting apologists for fascism can never really explain all the weapons, including, yes, guns. Or the zipties. Or the gallows.

If the GOP didn't lie they'd have nothing left to say

Why do y'all still pretend none of us saw the footage?

I'm beginning to think right wingers actually didn't. Do you really know everything that happened that day besides the people milling around in the main lobbies? If not, I suggest you look.

They were shouting "Kiss Mike Pence", right?

The apologists can never answer direct questions like: just WHAT were these people even DOING there in the first place? And just what were they going to do if they got their grubby paws on Pence or Pelosi?

Play pattycakes? Tea and crumpets?

They illegally entered the legislature while it was in session calling for the death of the elected official leading that legislature. I’m not happy that pence was elected but I acknowledge that he was elected. He was certifying his own loss of power, and they brought a noose and chanted for his death. The legislature was evacuated to safe rooms and one of their guards had to shoot someone who refused to stay behind the barricades or respect an armed guard saying to stay back while pointing a gun.

Just because someone fails to get the money doesn’t mean they didn’t attempt to rob a bank

Yeah and the Holocaust was just Hitler attempting to cut juice from his diet

Man, I hope your house gets J6'd. Clearly it wasn't that bad, so you should be fine.

Attack, multiple deaths, massive damage, extreme violence. So attack is the right word.

I think most of causalitys were the rioters themselves looking into it one was shot one overdosed on drugs and 2 died of natural causes with a cop dying of natural causes aswell 138 poilce officers sustained some injuries with 5 being hospitalised on the day there were 4 cop suicides months after the riot which I think to be a little bit odd but that's probably just me

You can look into this yourself

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/January_6_United_States_Capitol_attack

Attack multiple deaths massive damage and extreme violence can apply for pretty much most riots

Here we see parts 2 and 6 of the narcissist prayer:

  • And if it did, it wasn't that bad.
  • And if I did, you deserved it.

I don't know what's more pathetic, the failure of LEO's to stop the mob, the outrage over the costumes, or the gross rioters themselves. Either way, this isn't an attack. A riot sure, but not an attack. This was the outrage of Walmart white trash marching on officers who didn't want to end up in trouble for spraying the crowd with assault rifles.

For all the people calling this an attack though, it's pathetic. I don't want to see a real attack, but I disagree with this being called one.

What’s really pathetic is your z-tier attempt at trolling.

It was planned. There was an objective.

Denying that it was an attack is ignoring reality.

It's just more gaslighting. It was an attack, we all saw it. And this was planned, and it went hand-in-glove with their coup attempt via the fake elector scheme.

In another time many of those guilty might already have been lined up against a wall or be marched to the gallows. They hate democracy, and they wanted to overturn the will of the people.
