Types of siblings

Excuse me, but as a middle child, I have to absolutely object to that last statement. Middle children have their own unique sibling/personality complexes. :P

Oh wait, I don't exist. Wow, that's a stealthy, mean joke. That cuts, fam.

I think it was less a joke about how middle children don't exist and more a joke about how middle children are often forgotten about compared to the oldest/youngest

Forgotten = doesn't exist

At least in the sense that we mean it.

Don't exist until they're gone ... I'm a middle child in a family of eight ... mom kept an eye on the baby and the oldest ... as long as there was six in the middle, no one really cared who they were until that number of middle children decreased.

At least middle children had their own TV show. Been a while though.

Thought I really feel like Malcolm often....my younger sister is a genius at arts and my older brother is a below average inteligence bully.

I'm just missing the inteligence )-|

I am not in this image and that costs me a lot of money in therapy.

:(

Only child is heavily spoiled and oftentimes the opposite of independent

guess you never been around only children with parents who work full time

As a middle child, I too have not existed for my whole life.

Middle child syndrome. Me and my oldest sister used to taunt my middle sister with that term when she started acting up. Wasn't a good idea because when it was only me and her in the house she would bully me a lot and this added to that rage. Venting I guess.

An only child is not a sibling

It’s it’s own sibling. It’s a quantum brother/sister’s quantum sibling.

I don't know man. I have 2 half sisters but I didn't grow up with them. So in theory I'm not an only child, but in practice I was because I didn't have any contact with them.

My father always used to say he had three kids. One of each.

30 years later, I repeated this to my niece and nephew. They were quite puzzled. Especially when my brother laughed saying "I forgot Dad used to say that."

The driver controls the radio.

Sorry.

Right? Like I pretty much never got to pick the radio station as a kid. TV and radio was always picked by my parents.

As the youngest child in my family, I was most definitely not "The favorite" but I was able to get away with the most.

My older brother, who got to go to karate, summer camp, boy scouts, a $300 BMX bike, an endless supply of skateboards, a half pipe in our back yard, and got to tour as a pro skater... "Capt_Wolf is the spoiled one! He got whatever he wanted!"

Did you get a full pipe in your back yard?

We’re always most jealous of the youngest, but actually it’s better for your mind and happiness later in life to be able to handle the world better, and growing up too safe and favorites can definitely prevent that.

Help the youngest instead of being jealous of them, teach them the faults you made through your life to not repeat those mistakes

We have 2 kids, and the oldest feels jealous when I give the youngest focused attention. I constantly have to remind her that I did the same with her, and it's only fair. But I can see how it's tough on her.

This week our 4 year old wanted to try swimming like her sister without floaties. So I was helping her navigate the water where she had to keep herself up, and my oldest (7) was definitely feeling jelly.

Lol that young it makes sense that they get jealous they'll grow out of it

I'm the top right got mature because of tough times not pretty but something I'm proud of
