Did you have to peg me that hard before we've even met
It's my usual ice breaker.
I found Digg just before the Exodus and hung around Reddit for a decade or so then split during the Reddit blackout.

It's my usual ice breaker.
Based on this poll with 599 participants from the german !ich_iel@feddit.org community, most of us are somewhere between 20 and 40 years old.
This is only a small fraction of lemmy users, maybe it just represents the age range of german meme enjoyers on lemmy, but I don't know of any other poll with a sample size this big.
Also see stats from:
Which are pretty similar.
Yeah, prolly shifts older by 1 or 2 demographics, is my guess.
I would estimate
15% <25
60% 25-40
25% 40+
Y'all be showing your age sometimes π
I'm old as fuck. I definitely show my age as often as possible.
I showed my age in public and now I'm on a list... I keep getting AARP mailers.
The aarps mailers are great once this FEMA camps get going
Get off my lawn
I'd agree with your breakdown. I'm early 40s and I feel like most people here are give or take 10 years of me
Awww man, I'm 2 years away from a bracket change.... My knees hurt more now.
There have been several polls. We're older and more female than you think.
My steam account is nearly 20, lol
Had the same email address for 27 years...
Solid, and still your main? My Hotmail would be similar age, but it's hardly used these days
0-100 I believe
There's at least one 57 year old.
Two.
Three.
Do we have to be 57? I just wanted to be part of a counting train.
I have no idea but I imagine most should be younger than I am (50+)
I'm 19!
How..?
Not an expert but I believe it's because they were born 19 years ago
Oh. Looks like I got whoooshed
It's ok. It is, in my opinion, one of the lamest memes on the internet.
Hi 19 I'm dad.
I'm 18 if that's any help π
younger than on Mastodon (where itβs overwhelmingly 40+)
Iβm 30, so naturally I assume everyone else is too
18 - 30
Not sure, I'm mid thirties though
This few years are the largest single age years in us population. I think 34 is peak. In US at least.
i think we should poll in it
~13-50
Seems like a young crowd to me based on the often naive and idealistic post replies. OTOH, I'm very often surprised that so many seem my age (50s).
Around 9 years old. Could be some 11 year olds in there.
74-89
Hopefully older and more mature than Reddit users.
I mean an average teen aint gonna find Lemmy or even like using Fediverse stuff, they mostly stick to mainstream social media. Sign up applications probably further weeds them out. Yay no pesky kids.
(I don't hate younger people, I just find that many of them tend to be immature and use the anonymity of the internet to post edgy opinions like racism)
I find this being an ageist take. Not everyone is immature.
Also, speaking as someone who's entered his 50th year, shitposting in alternative venues is not really a sign of maturity.
Donβt forget /.
I stayed around that one for way, way too long.
39 here, exact same backstory.
Wow. Same for me. Digg just before the implosion, then reddit for 10ish years then here. 52.
