$5 says they are nowhere near ready to release but higher ups decided to anyways to take advantage of Twitter getting destroyed

i hate zuck but i think i hate elon even more, i'll enjoy to see the war

Zuck doesn't care that he's making the world worse. Elon actually wants to make the world worse. That's the difference really

both want as much money as possible and screw over their users for it

only difference is musk screws their users by making the app absolute ASS and zuck just steals your data

You can choose loud and dangerous, or quiet and more dangerous.

Perhaps. Maybe even probably. But possibly not—it’s rumored to have been in the works for quite some time.

Instagram is still cool with the kids, which is why this is an "Instagram app" and not a "Facebook app" or a "Meta app".

Fuck Facebook, but I must admit that’s a snazzy logo.

Just looks like a scribbled attempt at an @ to me, but to each their own

I mean… isn’t that sort of the point though? It’s supposed to look like an @ symbol that looks like it’s being thread/is a thread.

Even then, I'm not sure what makes that so great. Looks like what someone came up with on a doodle.

I'm just confused why it's shaped like a 6 to be quite honest

They used the other style of ‘a’ to make the @ symbol look more thread like.

They can kiss my ass. Only Meta product I use is messenger and that’s only because my wife insists on using it.

I deleted Facebook from my phone the day they separated it from messenger. That infuriated me. They later even made it impossible to use the mobile website to view messages. I’ve since deleted Facebook entirely.

I really like how they are two separate apps. I don't want to have to open FB just to read a message.

Unless something has changed in the last 5 years or so, their Messenger app was by far the worst offender. If the app is even just installed on your phone, they are 100% harvesting all of the data on the device.

Holy hell, we have early access phone apps now?

Not even early acces, literally just a preorder so it gets downloaded ahtomatically...

Instagram app. AKA Facebook owned. AKA Meta owned. AKA zuckerfuck owned.

No thanks

Ah this must be part of their federated project P92...

If it is, I hope all instances, whether they are mastodon, Lemmy, Kbin, etc etc... Defederate from it.

I read elsewhere they are using a whitelist to only federate with the big mastodon instances.

The P stands for project

The P stands for "Piss off, Zuck".

The "P" stands for: Please for god's sake keep the Zuck far away from us and protect us from the meta virus. We want a free space in the internet where we can shitpost and be free without being surveilled and where money is not the most important thing. But yes, I like your summary.

Oh goody. Another way I can ignore farcebook.

As janky as the fediverse apps may still be, there is no way I’m popping into that beta.

I'll never install a meta app on my phone. I'll stick with Mastodon, thanks.

It's Zuck better than Musk?

One of the most annoying things about Twitter is all the Elon dickriders who are always getting bumped to the top of threads because they’re the only ones paying for Twitter Blue

Lol, I didn't know this was a thing. (I'm not on Twitter, but I am on Facebook, though it wasn't an intentional decision, it's just where my friends were).

In terms of managing a social media sites, yes..

Good point. I was thinking overall, but you're right, Zuck's the social media horse to bet on.

I guess Facebook and Instagram didn’t completely lui themselves yet? That’s already better than Twitter lol

There is literally zero privacy on that app. They track everything.

Is this like instagram that can also show posts from Mastodon or what's special about this? If you're looking for Twitter alternative why not just go to Mastodon directly?

The only Twitter alternative I want to fail more than Twitter
