Well, she is a Republican, isn't she?

Crockett? She's a Dem.

Edit: I certainly misread this whole thing

Headline reads

MTG is 'absolutely' racist, Texas Democrat says after their heated exchange in House

...and you think the "she" the commenter refers to as Republican is "Texas Democrat" and not "MTG?"

She's an open white nationalist.

How is her being racist any sort of surprise or questioned?

Still gotta keep pointing it out. The goal of these people is to normalize their shittiness, so you need to keep saying, "this isn't normal, these people are whack as fuck."

NGL I initially read this as Magic: The Gathering being racist and was a little confused.

Of all the things that irritate me about her, the fact that she's often identified by her initials might be the worst.

People need to adopt more appropriate ways of abbreviating her name. Say something like Moscow Marge.

White cards have pictures of angels and noble soldiers on them. Black cards have zombies, demons, and grotesques.

Sounds like "light" and "darkness" clichés, not references to skin pigmentation

Typically, this is what the cards are themed as, at least the older sets. White and Black are "enemy" colors in Magic: the Gathering after all, same as Red and Blue, Black and Green, etc (based on their position in the MTG color pentagon).

That said, there were some definitely racist cards that got banned and pulled from databases in 2020, Invoke Prejudice being a notable example.

It shows a hooded executioner with a black axe. “If opponent casts a Summon spell that does not match the color of one of the creatures under your control, that spell is countered,” says the card. It effectively kills off creatures that don’t look like the creatures already on the table.

I've got some bad news for you about the history of those cliches.

We should stop putting anything about MTG in the limelight.

Right? The headline doesn't even name the representative that was the target of, and accused her of, racism. Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas.

Yeah, that was the reason I left /r/politics on reddit. It devolved into the "what did MTG do today" subreddit.

Wow.

I never could have guessed.

What a shocking twist.
