Does this place really have 12k subscribers and no posts in 4 days?

RunningInRVA@lemmy.world to Futurama @lemmy.world – 379 points –

Bad news everyone! Nobody is posting and I’m not getting my daily fix of Snu Snu, Mom slaps, Leela eye rolls, and of course opportunities to bite Bender’s shiny metal ass.

Let’s go folks!

Once the new season drops I think things will pick up.

I suspect most people (including me) are probably lurkers/upvoters. The lurkers will have more to say when the new season is live :)

Also, where does that subscriber count come from? I looked at this community via 3 different Lemmy instances & saw different numbers on each of them.. maybe that number is just specific to the amount of local instance members subscribed to that community. Here at lemmy.zip we're at 18 subscribers for !futurama@lemmy.world

Afaik, only the native instance reports accurate subscriber counts. I believe other instances report how many people in that instance are subscribed to it.

I’m only seeing 9k but it’s basically a clone of a much more popular futurama forum that has constant posts. It’s gonna be tough to get consistent posts and engagement.

Keep in mind that the sub count you see is the number of subscribers from your instance. I see 9.3k from my lemmy.world account, 250ish from my lemmy.ml account, and 300ish from my lemm.ee account.

Not sure how/where OP sees 12k though.

Could depend on the third party client they are using. It might show all subscribers across all federated instances.

I see 12k from Memmy on iOS

Another lurker checking in.

I am rewatching the whole series for probably the 6th time now in prep for the new series.

It’s gunna be fun on a bun!

12k ain't that much. I run a sub of 75k and they only amass two or three posts a day max unless something happens. Just post your OC if it bothers you.

I'm seeing 300 subscribers.

If you view a community from your own instance you see the number of subscribers from your instance only.

Thank you. I'm new. The more you know. :)

Damn I didn't know that. That explains why the numbers look weird. Are there any ways to see the actual numbers?

You can either search the community on lemmyverse.net or you can visit the community on their home instance.

Posting takes more effort than commenting. So good on you for posting something.

Posting a meta complaints about lack of posting doesn't count.

Please post for us and help get the ball rolling.
