Former President Donald Trump has replaced his top Georgia lawyer ahead of his surrender Thursday evening, sources tell CNN.

Drew Findling, the lawyer who has led Trump’s defense in Georgia, is being replaced by Steven Sadow, an Atlanta-based attorney whose website profile describes him as a “special counsel for white collar and high-profile defense.”

Guess who’s not getting paid.

Everyone working for trump

There are two kinds of people that work for Trump. One kind understands the phrase "cash up front", the others are the true believers. One group may get paid. The others won't and may even end up in jail when they inevitably break the law.

This guy would rather see his name in the newspaper than on a check.

imagine having to work for a former president pro-bono. that’s some alternate reality shit

"Sorry, I need more time now to bring my new counsel up to speed, can I get a delay pweeese?"

Rinse and repeat until the election...

The Georgia case was never going to trial before the election with 19 or so defendants.

Hopefully doesn't need to, as long as it ties up Trump's resources and Trump himself it will also hopefully kneecap any kind of campaign he fields next year

You understand he doesn't need to campaign, right? He leads a cult that will vote for him no matter what.

Nah, he has plenty of rich people willing to pay for him, he doesn't care about campaign funding regulations, what little there is, and he doesn't pay his bills anyway.

I guess Drew Findling was the person who made Trump cancel an event where he wanted to spout out more lies about the Georgia election and then told Trump "we can not put these lies onto a 100 page long paper and read in court either" even when you promise we will and so he had to go.

This is very good, because it means Findling was an actual lawyer who could have successfully defended Trump (or at least kept him of digging himself deeper and deeper) and now Trump is forced to go with someone who either doesen't care on being a reasonable lawyer or isn't one.

Just a reminder how everything the GOP tried against the election outcome in Georgia went so far:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post-election_lawsuits_related_to_the_2020_United_States_presidential_election_from_Georgia

"Rather than presenting their evidence and witnesses to a court and to cross-examination under oath, the Trump campaign wisely decided the smartest course was to dismiss their frivolous cases," Raffensperger said.

Trumps problem is, all the people who "wisely" made the decision to not go forward in this direction and to hold him back are now gone.

no lawyer can defend him as there is to much actual evidence which is why trump wants to bring in bs for the court of public opinion and by that the opinion of his rabid base. He needs an attorney ready to turn the case into a circus and willing to get debared to do so.

I wonder what would happen if he got a regular boring lawyer. The kind that wouldn't do things to get disbarred afterwards.

This is why “yes-people” are so problematic.

I wanna know the faults of a plan. I wanna know where things will break. I wanna know … if I’m breaking the law.

No sure what the other lawyer had said but it looks like Trump just went with someone who says what he wants to hear.

“I have been retained to represent President Trump in the Fulton County, Georgia case. The president should never have been indicted. He is innocent of all the charges brought against him,” Sadow said in a statement. “We look forward to the case being dismissed or, if necessary, an unbiased, open minded jury finding the president not guilty. Prosecutions intended to advance or serve the ambitions and careers of political opponents of the president have no place in our justice system.”

"hopefully the case just goes away. But I guess I could try to somehow get a not guilty for him if we can stack the jury the Right way."

"I just want some of that sweet Trump train money.

What do you mean, get the invoice later?"

Putting in appropriate effort for a job where the pay is exposure.

That exposure is gonna backfire- this case is basically a slam dunk.

God damn, do I want to live in the reality where bad press exists. Or have you not watched these exact assholes fail upwards for the last seven years?

The reason it’s going to back fire is you know trump is going to throw them under the bus when there’s nobody else to toss.

They’re going to fail, and trump is going to blame them. And he’s going to let the world know it.

A slam dunk unless someone in the audience (a single juror) decides that nothing the prosecution can do will make it a slam dunk so nobody gets any points (not guilty). Metaphor got away from me but all it takes is one juror to lie his way into the box and refuse to vote guilty no matter what.

Actually, that would be a mistrial.

Which results in a second trial- in this case it would be with a new jury. There would be no reason to dismiss the case if only one hold out was present.

And if it’s demonstrable that the juror lied- maybe by looking at social media- then they’re gonna get his with perjury.

And someone who won't be paid anyway

I mean wasn't his other lawyer arrested? I can see why he picked a new one. But who knows, Joe Biden's allies might have this one arrested too.

I honestly don't think Joe Biden has any interest in what lawyer Trump has today or why.

He probably has more relevant news to read. Did you know that Kim Kardashian once had a cover photo on a magazine that broke the internet?

Are you calling people that don't try to overturn elections "Joe Biden's allies"?

I suppose they would be, huh.

All these criminals keep getting arrested... it must be a conspiracy!

Please learn to live in reality. Please start caring what words mean.

This is certainly a take... A silly take but still one nonetheless.

Pro-Tip: Anything you hear out of the GOP's mouth should be taken with a grain of salt and/or assume it's a political ploy.

Oh this is the "lawyer of the stars" guy Trump had previously retained:

Yes, because the issue is who was captain of the Titanic after it hit the iceberg.

Thumbnail looks like he hired Bat Boy.

Kind of a shame it's just weird lighting on a normal-looking dude, versus being the sign that this is all a fever dream you can wake up from. I say you because my coma delirium wouldn't involve this many false starts. Comey's gonna charge him, whoops, nevermind. Mueller's gonna charge him, whoops, nevermind. We're going to war with Iran, whoops, nevermind. We're holding cops accountable, whoops, nevermind. The plague means UBI, whoops, nevermind. Roger Stone's going to jail, whoops, nevermind. A mob invaded the capitol, whoops, nevermind. Russia's seizing Ukraine, whoops, nevermind. Ukraine's expelling Russia, whoops, nevermind. Wagner's conquering Moscow, whoops, nevermind. The last seven years have been like a story told by a toddler. "And then... and then... but nuh-uh... and then..."

Seeing the figure of highest ridicule - whom I remember reading about in Bloom County collections when they were far from new - fail his way into the clumsiest autocracy imaginable, would not be followed up by this much inaction. Hallucinations don't start with "Carrot Top became the Pope!" and then level out. He's declaring a crusade on Gallagher, the Swiss Guard develop laser-pikes, and your childhood dog kills the emperor of Australia. So whichever one of you is having this nightmare, I want you to know your subconscious is fucking boring.
