What is your idea of a perfect day off?

To be the ideal day off, it needs at least one more day off before and after it.

And the days off before and after should also be ideal days off.

I wake up, all the chores were done the day before. I have nowhere to be. My wife and I make our coffee and sit outside. The weather is cool enough to be comfortable with a blanket. We sit in silence mostly, observing the changing autumn leaves.

We meander, doing nothing of importance all day and go nowhere until we pick up a deep dish pizza from our favorite local restaurant. We take it home and eat it on out couch while our cats watch enviously.

We go to bed, and fall asleep immediately.

I really don't know.
Theses times, I need 4 days off to start to be efficient in my "serenity" 😅

A day where I really don't have "external things" in mind, and where I just "do" for me.

After it's a story about hobby's, passions etc 🙂

This is the main reason why the Italian Renaissance occurred.

People growing wealthy enough to have the time and money to create art (or at the very least hire artists) to create art and come up with new ideas.

If you have a world full of people who are just making ends meet all the time ... ideas, art and anything new just stagnates as people spend more time surviving instead of using their free time to come up with new things.

2 more...

I have nothing else to do, no external worries, and I feel motivated to work on my hobbies (programming, music production). Then I'll spend most of the day working on said hobbies, learning some new things and creating/adding something cool. Then in the evening I'll do something fun with friends. Maybe at some point I'll go for a walk or run.

Days off are a state of mind. I’m proud to say that my mind hasn’t worked in years!

Eat a egg and cheese sandwich on a bagel, go to an antique shop, ride my bike, hike, or kayak, do some gardening, play some music, go to a party. Idk there's too many perfect day options - but the egg and cheese on a bagel is crucial.

Terrible weather, bucketing rain, not too cold, low visibility in fog / low cloud. Close proximity to mountain bike park. Full day of sliding down trails, getting covered in mud. Absolutely miserable, wet and dirty all day, struggling to maintain traction up the hills, frequently sliding out. Evening spa / hot pools to relax the muscles with a beer.

That's heaven.

Sleep in, play a round of golf, grab dinner/takeout, and watch LOTR until I fall asleep. No wife and kids involved.

Literally just watched the trilogy for the first time a week ago. Had it on DVD forever but thank god I opted to experience it in bluray first

i wake up in montreal during jazz fest around 9am. i go to the restroom and walk dog. i come back and hangout on balcony watching yt videos. wife wakes up and gets ready. i hang out and watch anime or play games until 11am ish. we find some random spot for breakfast. come back for dog and go out just finding things to check out. drop dog off at some point and have some drinks. then head out to dinner and then depending on show get dog or head to a show or two. head back home let dog out and chill and hang out with wife. nods

  • No obligations
  • Good weather
  • Wake up well-rested
  • Breakfast in bed
  • Do some gardening while listening to music (SXM '60s Gold FTW!)
  • Shower
  • Trivia night at the bar
  • Smoke some pot
  • Go to pound town
  • Feed the munchies

But honestly I'm retired so most of this is just a normal Wednesday for me.

One where my work phone doesn't ring with people asking me to solve basic ass problems they should be able to solve themselves. I'm all for calling me in emergencies or unusual situations, we have patients depending on us. Don't call me because you can't find something or someone is rude or you're scared to make the call your fucking paid to make. Really aggravating.

You do know you can just pull a "call barring" on them, right?

After all, they are calling outside working hours.

Unfortunately, I need to be available about 80% of the time.

A nice walk to start the day, coffee and breakfast our somewhere, then an afternoon of stress free hanky panky followed up with a relaxing late dinner and strolling.

A day with no plans where I'm not thinking about the end of my days off. You don't get it with a week off. Every day you have a thought about how many days left but two week on Wednesday. You've done what you want the weekend is still far away and you know the next week I'd more time. Bliss, no need to worry about utilising your time off. Just pure impulse.

Probably getting a good work out in, eating a nice salad, getting high, and watching a good movie.

I would say sleeping in and doing nothing but I feel like I regret it afterwards and feel lethargic.

Wake up, watch some of guilty pleasure movies/shows while eating some ice cream. If the weather is nice a little walk while listing to music or a podcast and then an early sleep after a cold shower and a shave. Heaven

Wake up, have sex, drink coffee sitting on the porch. Pokemon go walk few km, yoga, shower. A nice meal. Hang out. Drinks on the porch, supper, maybe watch a movie, sleep.

If I am the only one with a day off? Going to the beach alone is heavenly.

It really depends on what sort of mood I'm in.

I don't find anything wrong with taking a day here or there to just be a couch potato and get drunk!

It needs to have two things, and not have one thing:

  • slippers
  • books
  • deadlines

Definitely spending the day with my young children, going to a soft-play and then going out for a lunch filled with 'no no no don't throw that' before we return home for a fun evening of 'daaaaaaady, daaaaaaaady' entirely on my own in total silence apart from the sound of my TV with a videogame on, a fresh cup of tea in my mug and maybe a takeaway pizza on the way.

That depends on the season and my mood...

During spring/summer I would like to go to an interesting place I haven't been before snd tske photos.

During autumn and winter I do enjoy sitting as home next to a window under a blanket hearing the rain storm outside or seeing the snow cover the ground, knowing that I am warm and dry just a few cm from the harsh weather.
