Right now, mine is buying the fancy expensive dark chocolate ๐Ÿซ

Getting my nails done!

I love painting my nails too, but I can never keep it looking nice for more than 3 days ๐Ÿ˜” any tips?

Honestly my nails are so thin and brittle they break if I look at them too hard and painting them myself never stays on for more than a day. If you have strong nails get a gel manicure and if your nails are like mine I get gel with acrylic nails and fill them in every 3 weeks.

Getting wrapped in a blanket, sitting in front of the PC with a bowl of Nachos with Cheese and playing Factorio while watching or listening to true crime videos/podcasts.

Commissioning artwork.

When I have enough saved up, I go to a friend of mine that's an artist and make a request, especially if I've made a new character recently. It feels like I get to have my imagination put into visible, concrete form.

Getting a monthly massage

I've never had one, but I've been considering getting a sports massage. Do you have a specific type of massage that you like? What do you look for in a masseur/clinic?

You'll have to try different things to find what you like! I get a lot of deep tissue and therapeutic work done.
I also am a massage therapist, so I'd be happy to answer any questions!

Thanks, I will look those up!

Hmm, I guess my main question is what I should know before booking a massage and what red flags to look out for? I also recall reading somewhere that you have to get massages regularly to get the full benefit of them, like weekly/monthly, is that true?

I'm not a fan of a place that will book you same day. Also avoid sketchy looking places, if you're looking for a reputable massage, not sex work. Also red flags are someone who doesn't listen to your concerns, someone who promises they can fix everything, and (for me) a generic place where they won't tailor things to your needs. As far as benefits go, there can be a benefit from going a single time! Depends what you're looking for. If you have ongoing issues that's your like to work on, regular massage is great!
Finding the right massage therapist is like finding the right therapist (if you haven't done that either, there's a bit of a feeling things out process to find someone you really connect with and can do some good work with).

I looked at my long list of chores and it was just too sunny outside.
I went fishing instead. Didn't catch a thing and it was great.

Waiting for sun in my area ๐Ÿ˜” Lately, on days we get sun, I've enjoyed lying down in a sunny patch on the floor and watching the clouds. Pure serenity

Many many packs of nori and a few beers.

Crunching away like a goofball

On a big desserts kick right now. Just made a Black Forest gateau. Better than getting drunk.

Recommend me recipes? My problem is that I enjoy the baking more than the eating though haha

I highly recommend basically anything from Sally's Baking Addiction. I've never had one of her recipes fail, and they've always come out absolutely delicious to the delight of my family and friends. I also like her site because she actually covers a lot of details about what's important to pay attention to in each recipe, which substitutions work & which don't, qualitative as well as quantitative criteria for each step, and both metric and US customary units for ingredients.

Recent award-winners include her Schwarzwรคlder Kirschtorte, Seriously Fudgy Brownies, Maple Pecan Tassies, Gingerbread Cookies, Very Peanut Butter Cookies, and multiple cheesecakes based on her classic recipe.

I also recently made Claire Saffitz's chocolate layer cake that was featured in NYT Cooking.

Thanks for the detailed response! Saved it, will pick something to try when I next go to the grocery store

Small charcuterie board. Nothing fancy: a salame, two cheeses, olives. Then I open some wine or beer (depending on climate - I'm fine drinking sangria now in the summer but I'd rather not do it with this).

That's specially fun when my sister is visiting, since my sis and my BIL also love this stuff.

Ever heard of chocolate covered espresso beans? Most better candy shops have them, as well as some coffee shops. Think peanut M&Ms except with espresso beans instead of peanuts.

Delicious but you spend the same amount of time it to takes to eat them trying to get all the bean fragments out of your teeth

Yeah, I prefer chocolate covered nuts over these

I went through a chocolate period and that was fun. At this point, uh, buying liquor. Not even the expensive stuff now though.

I want to say be careful but I don't want to sound patronizing. Alcoholism scares me

Make something nice for dinner, open a nice bottle of wine, leave the dishes until the morning, have a wank, and watch a favourite film on TV.

Lately it's been beans and toast? Weird, but I look forward to it. Can't eat tooo many beans ofc, for social reasons, so that's why it feels like a treat

Cuddle up with tea and a good article driving deep into a fascinating subject.

This sounds fantastic. What are some good articles you've read?

Often it's on technical subjects, but not always. Most recently I read an academic paper on a new method for accelerating the execution engines of dynamic programming languages. The new copy-and-patch technique allows such an engine to generate more optimal code very quickly and without manual programming of machine specific hand tuning that is often not economically viable.

Speaking more recently, I enjoyed reading a paper and this article about the paper. "What Is It Like to Be a Bat?" concerning the mind-body problem.

I enjoy that "learned something new" feeling.

Cooking like 3 different meals for the whole week.

Are you me? I love doing this, there's something so primally satisfying about knowing your meals for the week are sorted

Epsom salt bath with bath oils and some of that jazz lettuce while watching Star Trek

A decent steak. Cooking it is as rewarding as eating it.

A hot bath. Or if I need extra, a night at the local Kabuki-style bath house.

I love taking baths when I'm sore! Too lazy to take them otherwise. Do you have any special bath time rituals or anything you do to make it more fun?

It's easier some times than others. If I'm engrossed in a book it makes a great pairing.

My partner also takes baths for relaxing a lot and he will put a computer on a chair and watch TV while soaking.

Two glasses of wine, three cats, and a night of giggling at the TV with my husband.

Going to Lidl to see what new continental sweet foods they've got that day on the middle aisle.

Every now and then our Lidl (in Germany) has a French Week. The Muffins they sell are amazing. They are filled to the brim with chocolate cream and the amount of sugar in these things will hit your brain like a truck.

Incredibly unhealthy. But I donโ€™t care. They are like sweet crack.

Friday morning breakfast. Lately I've been making fancy pancakes. Last time was apple cinnamon pancakes with real maple syrup and a honey-vanilla compound butter. It was divine.
