My first thought upon seeing the cargo straps was: "Oh this is some bondage play shit isn't it"

This site is something else

&

$4220 Aviators & $2230 Beanie. $6400 to look like a thrift store stoner

So hideous I’d consider buying it just to ruin the day of whomever gazes upon it.

If I saw that in someone's house I'd think "well that's terrible but no-one's first woodworking project looks great, at least it's creative problem-solving".

Hearing the price tag is where I'd probably faint.

Whoever*

Whom is only ever an object.

Who is an object or subject.

This is for those with explosive farts. Please be respectful

I have spent some time homeless and have legitimately seen homeless encampments with uh 'decor' that looks like this, albeit rusted and water logged.

Some stolen construction zone materials, some crackhead ingenuity and voila! 'comfy' chair.

This is about an average one bedroom apartment rent in the US for a ratchet ass chair (it literally has ratchets!) that can actually be assembled by toothless fentanyl addicts.

Fuck whatever this company is and anyone that buys this bullshit.

I will never understand why “shitty” is an aesthetic.

It is aesthetic, but none you need to pay thousands of bucks for

How charmingly quaint my good man! I think it will make the perfect bougie addition to my bare hardwood Manhattan flat. I'll put it just next to the elevator. This must really be how the poor's live!

Where can I get one? Asking for a friend.

I'll make you a personalized one for $1700. That's a nice discount off the $1888 retail price.

One available! Order quick!

(uj/ I actually find this thing and the rest of the artist's works fucking hilarious. I'd get one if I had the money to throw away)

You could build one yourself for a fraction of the price with a trip to your local home improvement store. Even starting without tools, it would be cheaper.

Friendly reminder many libraries have maker spaces or maker spaces they work with. Maybe no need to get your own tools at all!

Not only does my local library have a maker space, but there is also a local FB group where people lend their tools and other things (like cooking supplies)

That's actually really cool. I know my wife is on our neighbourhood Nextdoor group. You've got me wondering if anyone on there has a table saw they'd let me use every so often in exchange for some beer or something.

My first thought is that this is meant for custom upholstery. If you're spending $1800 on a single chair, you're probably willing to shell out another grand or whatever to cover it in fabric that you like.

SSENSE is a designer fashion store for the most part. So this is more like a functional art piece.

Is this some sort of caricature of how the usual expensive chair looks below the fabric?

Nah. If anything, I think this is more a parody of bricolage design.
