As part of DeSantis’ “Freedom Summer” initiative, the state’s transportation secretary, Jared W. Perdue, announced earlier this month that bridges in the state will have no choice but to be illuminated in red, white and blue from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

“Thanks to the leadership of @GovRonDeSantis, Florida continues to be the freest state in the nation,” Perdue wrote on X.

I do like that the rainbow has been ruined for them despite their holy book talking about how god made it to show Noah and his descendants that he wouldn't kill them all off like he did everyone who came before them.

The irony is indescribable

As part of DeSantis’ “Freedom Summer” initiative, the state’s transportation secretary announced that bridges can only be illuminated in red, white and blue this summer.

Because nothing says freedom like restricting the colors people can use.

It's like Pleasantville, but in reverse and it's a horror film.

In many ways, it's exactly like Pleasantville. The world is changing and the reactionaries don't like it, so they try to use the force of law to make things back the way they perceived them to be, including by restricting the use of color.

I wonder if Florida is tired of winning yet?

As The Washington Post reported:

The Ringling Causeway Bridge over Sarasota Bay usually lights up in rainbow colors for a week in June, and also marks other causes during the summer, such as orange for National Gun Awareness Month and yellow for Women’s Equality Day.

So I went WTF is "National Gun Awareness Month", I mean who actually needs a month long reminder that the US is full of guns? So I went and apparently it's National Gun Violence Awareness Day. Accurate reporting from the Washington Post, as always.

That aside, DeSantis absolutely looks like a face that belongs on a mugshot on the sex offender registry.

I wonder if they could get away with illuminating the whole bridge in red, since the normal street lights are white and the sky is blue. You know, for Labor Day.

In Florida most of our street lights are purple because they bought a cheap batch of LEDs

May Day is before Memorial Day and they could definitely go red for that. You know because reasons unrelated to communism that surely exist.

Florida banning the visible spectrum because it's too gay. Are we sure this isn't some sort of simulation to see how much we can take before we figure out we're in a social experiment.

DeSantis is a dope and this move has nothing to do with freedom and is just pandering to dumb Republicans.

But dear God, to paint this as some kind of attack on colors... Well, its almost as if the author is trying to out stupid DeSantis and is pandering to dumb Democrats.
