If you pick up a cursed armor or weapon and aren't sure if it's worth cleansing, throw it at an explosive trap, or throw a bomb at it. An un-upgraded item will be destroyed, while an upgraded one will not, and therefore may be worth using a cleansing scroll on.
Holy shit. Thanks for the tip!
Brilliant game. Free on fdroid.
Free if you get it from github or F-Droid. It's also open source, which I consider a plus
Yep. I've sunk probably 60 hours into Shattered Pixel Dungeon. Fantastic/infuriating roguelike. I play with an s pen. Way better than a finger.
I've played 530 games, so whatever that works out to. Ascended with each subclasses. Some people take the game to the next level with their dedication and nerdery
Jebus. I've played about 60 games. Need to beat it with the dualist. Then I'll have a win from each of the 5 classes. Game has one heck of a learning curve to it.
Duelist is my favorite class right now. Started with the mage though since he's probably the most forgiving to play.
Huntress is brutal to start with but gets really strong late game.
Huntress only took me like 5 tries to win with. Got some great items that paired well with her. I'm having a real bad go of it with the dualist. Been getting wrecked.
If you find a sickle early, use it - it does a lot of damage and it's bleed is solid. Similarly the scythe is broken. The flail can 1 shot people if you know how to use it.
I've been playing off and on for years, but can't get past about level 20. I suck so bad at the game but love it
Ouch. Umm....start with mage and dump all your upgrade scrolls into the staff for a while. Then when you get a tier 4 or 5 armor, put like 5 upgrades into that.
Pixel Dungeon and hence shattered pixel Dungeon are both based on a totally open sourced computer game called Brogue or BrogueCE (Community Edition) nowadays
It's not on steam, its just free on the web. Anyone who likes pixel dungeon should check it out
This is true. In fact, many games contain a considerable amount of Great Britain
Emulator + GBA games
I'm really digging advanced wars currently.
It's one of the best mobile GBA ports out their. The action ones are nearly impossible without buttons.
I'm playing it via an emulator and it's working nicely. I didn't realise there was a mobile port. Though I can see how it would work well for the touchscreen pretty easily.
Yeah, I meant with an emulator.
I enjoy puzzles a lot, so Simon Tatham's Puzzles. You get 40 puzzles at the price of 9 MB, including some classics like Sudoku, Minesweeper and Picross.
sgt-puzzles is a quality package of fun micro games. (Also available in every *nix distro)
I bought the original tabletop version of Black Box yesterday, after playing it so much in sgt-puzzles. (c:
I have blown so many hours on Towers.
Pokemon Firered. It was around 12MB iirc
That's a ROM that could be inserted into any emulation app, mobile or otherwise. So, at best, a removable mobile app component, and even then not necessarily just mobile apps.
My point is that's not a mobile app.
Not sure how weโre weighting size, but by ratio of MB to hours of idle enjoyment, I bet this oneโs up there.
Baba is you is great. Iโm sure most have played it by now.
And I always recommend rodent rush. Itโs iOS only though.
Slice & Dice
So good!
Seconded.
Chess
I really liked mindistry, like factorio but simpler, i ended up buying the pc version
mostly i play a free Solitaire collection on fdroid so i can play spider solitaire
On Android:
Godville is 24 MB, a zero player game where you create an adventurer who goes out and quests, collects loot and equipment, rests at town to sell things, tames a pet, joins a guild, etc. you can influence what they do, but they do it all automatically and you can just observe!
Impossible Dungeon is 35 MB, idle non turn based dungeon crawler with incremental upgrades, I really like it!
Not sure what you consider low MB, I couldn't find any more that I'd heavily recommend at 150 MB so I cut it off there
Probably VVVVVV. Comes in at 68MB on iOS.
Absolutely excellent infinite life platformer. Yeah, itโs a challenge but totally worth it. If you like Celeste, VVVVVV did it without all the story elements long before. Oh and the retro soundtrack is aces.
Super Hexagon is also great. Very lightweight at 31MB.
Game Dev Story von Kairo Soft, it's like 26 MB. It's also one of the best mobile games I have ever played.
I went hard on all the Kairo Soft games for a few years during the iPhone 3-6 era.
And to this day, I have no idea how any of the games work nor can I tell you how to be good at them.
Kittens Game.
Hoplite, Pixel Dungeon, Battle for Polytopia
Shattered Pixel Dungeon is the fork that has the most active development, if you're looking for more/better balanced content.
Shattered is a little baroque for me. The original
was rooted in simplicity, and I think Shattered, while trying to fix the few flaws of vanilla, goes too far in the other direction.
Triglav?
Anuto TD on fdroid
Ported Super Mario 64 is under 60mb.
"Battlevoid: Harbinger" is a great little spaceship battle game. Only like 56MB. I've kept it on my phone for literally over 7 years now. It's a hard to win strategy roguelike game with space ships.
It's cheap to buy, no adds, no in apk purchases, no online requirements, small, and has pretty much no BS about it. Just a great Lil game.
"Slay" is like 25MB and a lot of fun. It's a turn based strategy game from the 90s that I've played off and on for years now
Everything Bart Bonte has ever made, they're like <20MB each
By most played it's Drop Wizard Tower. It's 65MB, a consistent 15 minute time waster for me. Not the best game; but i kept playing it ever since I broke the world record for fastest climb to the top. I still try to beat my old time; don't have much luck though.
By best; easily Tap Tap Revenge 3. I remember playing that game on my iPod Touch 2 with 8GB of memory, it should be taking a low filesize. Too bad the game's delisted on stores, there will never be a rhythm game that good for mobile ever again. Fuck you disney for buying out Tapulous and doing absolutely nothing with them.
Dropwords. Its as close to a digital version of Boggle i know
I played Grim Quest at 61MB. Not too large a game. I liked the atmosphere though, and the narrative made me think of horror elements for trpg.
Fappy Bird. (It's legit on apkmirror)
Edit: fuck you it's a joke
You're not wrong, it exists and is 10mb. But it has a warning about needing Dalvik instead of ART, so I'm guessing it won't actually run on any phone from the last 8 years or so.
Shattered pixel..hands down
Rouge like rpg, with miles of depth. Can't recommend it enough. It's paid, but relatively cheap
Seems to be free on Android. Thanks for the recommendation though, seems fun from my first run โบ๏ธ
Be careful of using potions you don't know (test out in water)
Don't use equipment you're not strong enough for or you suffer penalties
Check out !pixeldungeon@lemmy.world for more info

Probably Unciv. Comes in at 22MB, simple graphics and all.
But an absolutely stellar reimplementation of Civilization, and in hexagonal to boot! (Because hexagons are the bestagons!)
Okay fine I'll play city skylines
On mobile?!
I can stream it from my media server through steam connect, but I wouldnt recommend it.
Do I know something to play it. When I tried, it was way complex or something. Couldn't understand what's going on or what I'm supposed to do.
Most games contain little to no Manitoba
