And the whole store stood up and clapped...

Then Stars and Stripes Flags dropped all over, the US' National Anthem started playing and an eagle was heard in the background

Ron DeSantis was there too. He fell to his knees and said “My God…what have I done?” while weeping.

The whole thing sounds like the plot of one of those religious movies where the atheist repents at the last minute before their death because they finally realize it’s all part of god’s plan.

My best friend’s husband is very protective of me. We were at a friend’s house eating and drinking, when someone who we had not met came over. This guy was a friend of the host, and was already a bit drunk. I introduced myself to him, Tên tôi là Jessica. I really only know a few sentences in VN, but I try. Yeah, what is your real name? I respond Jessica. He asks over and over, meanwhile I can see the rage building in bestie’s husband. Finally, Anh says Her name is Jessica! You got a problem with that!? The asshole then gets real quiet. I knew in that moment that Anh was about to pound this drunk asshole into the ground, because the belligerent and aggressive asshole would not leave me alone.

The screen cap that was posted may be fake, who knows? But I remember that moment, from like 5 or so years ago, vividly. It was that very moment that I realized that they were not friends—they were the family that chose me.

Not sure why I am sharing this 😅

And then they all started clapping...

Sorry but this sounds like het another one of those fantasy stories. Nice if true, but likely it didn't happen

And she became president of the world.

It's still nice to read. I want to imagine the world is like this, I want to imagine things are simple, at least for long enough to read a textpost story.

Fake AF

yeah i'm aware it's most likely fake but i like to believe people like this exist out there

Idk why you're getting downvotes, I hope the same, what's so negative about hoping there are decent people

Not a thing. If this inspires you to stand up for others then it being fake or real is unimportant.

You can tell because there's no Targets in Canada. /s

Seen this a hundred times, but it never gets old…

Probably fake, but I like to believe it happened

The story flat out says the guy was just walking towards her and they stopped him before he could say anything to her.

..... How in the ever living fuck did they know he was about to harass her for being trans?

"Started coming for her" means harassing her, not literally moving in her direction.

Eh, that's a stretch.

Is it though?

In my neck of the woods (that means area where I live and has nothing to do with wooded areas), the phrase means the same thing and I interpreted it as such and that the asshole started to pop off on her (that means suddenly start talking angrily rather than whatever your mind may have conjured if you hadn't heard the phrase before).

It's very likely a wish fulfillment fantasy story, why would it have involved the asshole only walking towards her (which is possible to do with obvious intent, but still ... what would he be apologizing for later in the story?) when you can literally make up anything you want?

I think I interpreted your "stretch" comment appropriately ... If you meant that Catoblepas was literally becoming a Mr. Fantastic like superhero, then I have no idea how to respond to what your said and I apologize for the wall of text that makes no sense in context.

I guess it's not a stretch in the sense that there's not a lot of other ways to interpret what the original meme intended, but I think it's at the very least inartfully said and leaves room for the interpretation that in addition to being totally fake, it's got a giant plot hole in it.

Haha, I do agree, but at the same time, people don't really know what parts of their language usage aren't universal until they get told.

Whether legit or fake, it's likely that it was only expected that their friends would see it, so, using local slang wouldn't be a problem for the intended audience.

It's not a stretch, it's literally what that phrase means in context.

That latter paragraph is one of my favourite attitudes and mantras in life, always love seeing others share it and show it 🥹😍

So, people are already making delusional wish-fulfilling fan fics of being trans. Lmfao.

That happened. It's great if it did, but it most likely did not.

I mean assuming this us real, i get that you feel like that was "justice" in the moment and all but realistically nothing was won here. If you can only make someone behave how you want with threat of physical violence, then you dont win anything. The next time this asshole finds himself in that kinda situation, without some guy to save the day, he will probably immediatly get violent, because why wouldnt he, if thats the answer to everything... Ofcourse in the big picture you sometimes have to resort to violence, but it should be directed at the people with the ability to greatly change things, that refuse to change them. Like politicians, corporations, etc

There's a few situations where people are incorrigible and need to just be cowed into inaction before they hurt people, and then that can be the first step towards changing their mind. Neonazis are the default example for that being that they are primarily power-obsessed.

that can be the first step towards changing their mind

If you actually believe that this situation would do anything but strengthen the assholes trans phobic tendencies, you ought to interact with real people more or something. sure in an actually dangerous situation it might be necessary, but nobody will actually get violent if there are already a bunch of people opposing them, even non violently. You cant force your thinking on people, they are just humans, it does not work. At some point you have to decide for yourself if you want to solve or simply postpone the problem.

It makes them less likely to act in that immediate situation but it also makes them less likely to try it again, and that's the important part. If they got away with it in public, they would instead grow bolder and more convinced that they can get away with it and that they have tacit support.

i guess some peoples minds do work like that and would just associate them being an asshole to getting punished for it. However i also know enough people who would have the opposite reaction and simply have a growing pent up hatred and lash out even harder to get back at others for making them look bad or weak or whatever.

Okay, but what if they’d been able to bully a trans woman unopposed? They’re still going to do it as well.

So if most people won’t try again after getting cowed, but a small number will do it no matter what, we should try and make them afraid to try again

Heck yea, lets normalize people thinking they are something they're not. I'm not saying the dude that harassed her was right either but let's stop pretending people can magically change the gender that they were biologically assigned

Gender is psychological, you're confusing words

I agree we should stop pretending people can magically change gender.

It's not magic, it's hormone replacement therapy, vocal training, wardrobe changes, pronoun changes, surgery, etc.

You all can just change gender normally through scientific methods.
