A friend of mine had a small daughter who died choking on a grape. I mean, it’s not exactly relevant here, it just made me think of him. I hope he’s doing alright these days.

That is why my wife and I chopped every grape in half before feeding it to our son.

Wow, are you him?

I used joke with the guy I’m talking about in the comment above when he’d say dumb or basic shit. No shit.

Like, one time he seen me and another friend smoking on the porch at work and he said, “If you boys smoke, you will die.” And I replied, something like, “Deep thoughts by postmateDumbass…”

Would be a crazy coincidence if you aren’t him.

I mean, I also see how your comment fits, but damn.

Not the same person.

I started out thinking General Dumbass but thought that was too presumptuous and militaristic.

But that bit just read like a Deep Thought.

Why would you post that here? That's terrible

I mean, I think it’s pretty obvious why I posted it here. There’s a dude hoping some kid chokes on a grape in that meme up there.

Sorry if I made you sad. That shit actually happened. Nothing I can do about it.

To be fair, he's sitting at -29 when the screenshot was taken.

11 years later...

Didn't notice that part. I think most subs lock the voting after 6 months if it isn't a default setting. If it wasn't a big sub that long ago, that still seems about right. If reddit still allowed you to see the upvote/downvote ratio, it would be more telling if it was universally rejected opinion or if it was closer to 50/50.

I think its probably an in-joke we (and the reddit downvoters) are not getting. I probably would have upvoted it assuming it was a joke.

It's wild to think, by the time this screenshot was taken that far might be embarrassing his daughter in front of her friends with this very same story.

As a father I always love a good dumb-fuck who has had little to no exposure to what toddlers are actually like.

Most fun when someone says a kid "could not have done" something by themselves... Kids are smarter than people give them credit for, they figure shit out. They just lack experience.

“Mu-mu-mu-moo cows mu-mu-mu-make milk!”

Your bloodline shall suffer for their transgressions against NBA

The only problem I see is that he starts with the premise that it’s a lie because the kid wouldn’t have seen a cow

Then calls the kid a retard for seeing a cow which invalidates the initial assertion

That was when reddit was normal. Now your account will get shadow banned for saying that

Neah, that's not due to Reddit, that's just your average sport fan!

TFW everyone takes your ironic comments as completely serious regardless of how much absurdity you pile on.

Which way is ironic? When he calls him a liar? Or when he hopes the kid is disabled? Or dies?

I'm kinda confused how cringe unhinged behavior is "ironic". Either you are miss using the word or you expect to say it with such confidence we would wash right over it.

But I personally find this ironic humor moronic. It's completely cringe for no good reason. It's not funny. It's not insightful. It's not playful. It's nothing but pathetic.

I think the idea is that he's the opposite of his username. I don't agree with the execution though, wouldn't positivity as an opposite be more general negativity rather than outright hatred and odious behavior?

100% this. I was on Reddit for nearly 10 years and this "type" of joke is super common.

That said, it was taken too far imo.

Ironic as in the opposite of sincere, as opposed to in the sense of paradoxical incongruouity.

I don't think this fits it. The irony should be consistent. And the statement is not. Therefore the irony is lost on the writer.
