"And won't natively run switch games. Players will have the opportunity to purchase their favorite titles in our new eshop available exclusively on our new console" - Nintendo probably

Source: my ass

If they do that I'll just stay on the Switch.

So you're saying you wont switch to the switch two?

You think they'd call it the Switch 2? No, it'll be way more vague about being a successor vs an upgraded console. New Switch, SwitchU, 3Dwitch, Switch Swatch, Sandwitch, SwitchPlus, Switch Yellow, Switch One. I'd bet on any of those.

I would buy a New Sandwitch-U 3D Plus with the all new Hedge Trimmer Fitness Controller.

No, because when you think about it, how much Switch could the Switch 2 switch if the Switch 2 could switch Switch?

No no. Instead of switching they prefer to keep switching.

You could add a "then" to the end to make that wordplay even better than it already is!

I mean Nintendo has been pretty good with backwards compatibility so I'm hopeful they will do that again. That will be the only thing that could push me towards buying a new nintendo console atm. I would sell my switch lite to add to my new switch fund lol

If not, I will just stick to my Steam Deck and PC

Just don't name it the "Switch-U"

Hey look, an accessory to extend the capabilities of my switch!

"Nintendo Super Switch-U2 & Knuckles", comes with the new U2 album pre-loaded and a game starring the Edge.

The joy cons will be replaced with JoyPads that will feature a screen that can be used to interact with games. It can also kinda play games by themselves but you have to be near the main Switch-U system. Nintendo's flagship game for the system will be 1-2-Switch-U.

It looks fake as fuck

Image is mock up, no official images are released yet

There's no way Nintendo abandons the removable joycons. They're such an important part of the switch experience.

Literally all Nintendo needs to do is release essentially the same hardware format with increased computing power, better screen, and a bit more "robustness" in the hardware (the OG feels plasticy and flexes quite a lot).

They'd sell it probably as much as the original. Because BOTW and TOTK deserve higher graphical output.

The Switch Lite doesn’t have removable controllers. So yes way they already did.

They did as a side product, but that's not at all the same thing as dropping the concept entirely.

There’s no way Nintendo abandons the removable joycons.

Nintendo abandoned the dual screen, and that was an incredible feature, I totally see them abandoning removable controllers

Tbf, they tried dual screen with a console and it flopped (for various reasons). With the switch acting as both a console and handheld device, I can see why they dropped dual screens.

Neither the DS nor the 3DS flopped, on the contrary. the DS was the most sold console in the world

And it gave us new experiences, new ways to play and also made some stuff better (like having extra info, like maps, information or access to the inventory, having that meant you didn't need to pause the game)

I believe by dual screen + console + flop they meant the dual screen setup the Wii U had.

For sure, I’m not saying the DSs flopped. But with Nintendo dropping a dedicated handheld line, I can see one of the main features of that handheld line went with it, especially when that feature was unsuccessful in a console format.

Dual screen was a great feature with a handheld with two tiny screens. They tried it with WiiU on the home console and it was a massive failure. The Switch maybe doesn't have dual screens, but the single screen is bigger than even the 3ds screens combined and they managed to port almost all WiiU exclusives to it with minimum loss of functionality.

Maybe the revolutionary feature was the added screen real estate the dual screens allowed for instead of there just being two screens.

They do deserve higher graphical output. That's why you should play them on a steam deck or rog ally.

TotK barely works on a Steam Deck, why do people say this?

It's still better than the switch, and it's getting better.

Can you explain how it's better on the Deck than the Switch?

Including a mock like this to illustrate an article is really dishonest

Prepare yourself, we’re in for these mockups until Nintendo does an official announcement 🙃 maybe we’ll get lucky and a few talented artists will fool the internet again

I'm hoping it's just a switch thst can do 4k at 60fps and the joycons are better.

PS5 can't even consistently give 4k60 on all titles. A tablet with a way lower power draw will not be able to do this for but a bare minimum of titles.

Nintendo games tend to be less demanding. They're built for the platform whereas PS5 is running PC ports generally.

The same can be said for Switch bs steam deck. Steam Deck can't reliably play 1080p60 for every game but the switch can.

It's not that unrealistic if the dock has a GPU in it. Something they should have done with the og switch.

I don't think Nintendo has really cared much about graphics since the gamecube era. They realized that people buy their consoles for the games not the graphics

I doubt they would make the console significantly more expensive by adding a GPU that most people wouldn't really care much about

The things I'm curious about is if it's gonna have weak hardware like the switch does and will it have a working emulator just as fast as the switch did?

One of my favorite things about the switch is just how in the span of a half decade we have emulators able to play commercial releases fairly well if your PC can handle it. It's just absolutely funny how sintendo wanted to make a portable home console but made something so easy to emulate when compared to any other console of the same generation.

Showing it to devs/publishers I can understand. Why would they be showing it to press though?

They could be preparing for an announcement. This would give time for the press to do write ups ahead of time. If this is true there must be some kind of NDA/embargo so we won't know anything until after a potential announcement.

If that was the case though, I would have expected them to have announced it already 🤔. Nintendo doesn't strike me as the kind of company to show their hardware to the press long ahead of announcement.
