Billie Eilish is the latest high-profile entertainer to back Vice President Harris’s White House bid, urging her fans to “vote like your life depends on it.”

“We are voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz because they are fighting to protect our reproductive freedom, our planet and our democracy,” Eilish said in a video posted on social media on Tuesday.

“We can’t let extremists control our lives, our freedoms and our future,” Eilish’s brother and longtime collaborator, Finneas O’Connell, said in the message shared with the “Lunch” singer’s more than 7 million followers on X.

“The choice is clear,” the post said.

“I HATE BILLIE EILISH!” – on lies social, any second now.

I expect at least half the reason she publicly endorsed Harris was to seriously piss Trump and his followers off. That seems like something she'd really enjoy.

If you can do a good thing for women's rights and simultaneously piss off terrible people, well, that's just a win-win situation.

Why did I think she was British?

Because her name starts with B and ends with ish.

And she made the theme song for James Bond's No Time To Die.

Maybe because it's a common British name or you have watched some Dr Who. Billie Piper was one of the early companions in the 2005 series.

You're not the only one, I'm still not sure she isn't.

Thats why I just googled her and she's from Los Angeles apparently.

Does that make Trump the bad guy?

Always has been.

I can't remember a time before the Republicunts started obsessing over him that anyone on the planet didn't hate him. It's insane seeing one of the most infamous people alive get so many dick riders.

There was a period of blissful ignorance circa 2006 where the only thing I knew about him was that he was rich and starred in the apprentice. Then a black man became president and the world hasn't been free of his stench ever since.

You do know there's a 1980s video of Trump talking about becoming the President of the United States, so it wasn't "a black man becoming president" that made him decide to run...just sayin'.

I see that Dolly said some real nice things about Taylor Swift. Still don't think Dolly will endorse anybody, though.

God, imagine if Dolly did endorse her.

Dolly is in deep Tennessee, where the majority who visits her theme park, listens to her music, and supports her, are Christian Republicans.

She's smarter than the Dixie Chicks.

She won't endorse Harris but will likely vote for her.

I lived there.

I really wonder whether it would open more peoples' eyes, or get her threats of violence.

I could see a lot of both coming :(

She has so much more sway than The Chicks had at the time, by such a huge amount.

The Chicks were already controversial, and had always been so.

But Dolly is the fucking queen of country, people revere her.

How many Dixie Chicks lookalike competitions were you seeing right before their career nosedived?

I dont think we need more celebrity endorsements. Help people get lawn signs

Personally waiting for Bart Simpson to endorse somebody...

People may revere Dolly. But given the propensity for violence by the Alt-right, she isn't going to risk damage to her parks or threats to her employees.

The only upside Dolly has is standing on the right side of history but that's not something she'll see in her lifetime.

Edit: Though if Dolly were to endorse Harris, and she were to (heaven forbid) experience alt-right violence, I could see that as the catalyst for base Republicans moving towards the center.

Then Boss Ross and Fred Rogers rise from the grave briefly just to say that they both think Harris and Walz are really nice people and would do a good job.

The Rs already came out and attacked Dolly a few months back. She probably has the mentality of just staying out of it.

Didn't they attack her for giving free books to poor kids?

I honestly can't remember, and some searching couldn't come up with anything. I'm like 80% sure it wasn't about her books though.

These endorsements are important not necessarily because of who is doing them, but for the constant wave of reminders that are more high profile than usual political messages. I think the biggest fight is against complacency as we start seeing the "sweeping poll numbers" from the media near the end. Vote regardless of who you're told is winning, it won't matter until the votes are counted.

I'm not holding my breath but hopefully it increases youth turnout of women. Which is a group that is much more progressive than young men, but both have poor turnout compared to older people.

I wanna, I wanna, I wanna end Trump.

Good luck! Remember, 2 failed impeachments + 34 felony convictions = 0burger.

Unlike Swift, that's a real endorsement.

How so?

Taylor's post, while i feel was well crafted, didn't say that anyone else should vote for Harris explicitly, but rather encouraging them to research their options and vote. That's different than "vote for Harris like your life depends on it".

My celebrity is better than your celebrity

Wasn't saying that at all. I'm not playing favorites, and as a Sad Dad of The National, I actually listen to more Swift. I think Swift's post about voting for Harris was well presented, but my point was it wasn't an endorsement.

How old are you that things like that matter so much?

Noone looked at my comment history I guess. Lol. That's fine. I've been commenting on how Swift didn't really endorse Harris, and just stated how she was voting and that people should research and vote. I am not even down on Swift. I think her post-debate message was well done. Just making a comment of the contrast and what a real endorsement is.

Who is Noone and why would they look at your comment history?

You do have a good point about the difference in endorsements.
