If you want to explore the most toxic community on the internet, install Dota 2.

my good sir, have you ever had the displeasure of playing League of legends?

I have, before Dota 2 beta invite.

How is it nowadays?

just as gobshite as ever of course

It was such a shame, too.

It fixed a lot of issues of W3 era of Dota, but could not hold a candle in any gameplay aspects.

My Lord, I had the distinct displeasure of being granted access to a few pre-mades. Not to be repeated

Ah yes, the "if you don't know the hero then don't play it" game

I too remember getting chewed out for randoming in an unranked match.

Now my friends exclusively play in private lobbies with bots.

It's really sad considering how amazing DOTA was umpty bajillion years ago. Also Enfo's survival.

and also X Hero Siege and Hero Line Wars

I remember the pain of trying to find people hosting things like parasite before I was able to host things for myself

OpenTTD is a good time if you like those types of management games. The graphics are old, but it’s still fun.

If you find yourself enjoying openTTD, I’d highly recommend trying the JGR patch pack. Link It adds loads of improvements that the steam version doesn’t have. I started on the steam version, loved it, and love the JGR version even more.

I caught a stream of TheSpiffingBrit playing it the other day and I downloaded it because of that. It's neat, but it does take some learning.

My favourite OpenTTD gameplay video is the Valefisk video where he invites his Patreon supporters to play a game with him and his friends and then ruins their day by basically starting the server early so that his corp already has more money than the other players.

I'd throw in a vote for HoloCure. It's like Vampire Survivors, and even if you know nothing about Hololive, its pretty addicting.

Will check it out, just stumbled into vampire survivors that game is awesome

I played a bit of it and what I got was completely different to what I saw kronii playing. She had what looked like a fishing and farming Sim while I had reverse bullet hell. Runs great on the steam deck though.

"Holo House" is the farming and fishing minigame. I believe you unlock it once you beat stage 1, it shows up in the main menu as "???" until unlocked.

The Looker was a funny parody of The Witness. Made me laugh.

Apparently the creator of The Witness didn't like it because he's allegedly a pretentious twat.

Doesn't surprise me that he didn't like it. It lampshades how the themes of the original game are not actually as profound as he says they are, while also being way more fun than the majority of the original

I just love the review of it that states, "if you like The Witness, you'll like The Looker, but if you hated The Witness, you'll love The Looker."

The ending had me rolling. I didn't realize what was going on until just right before the reveal. Great game to check out because you can beat it in a couple hours

Do you have to have played the witness to get the jokes, or does it stand alone?

It would still be a fun little puzzler, but it's very much a single-note satire, and a lot of it would come off as "lol random" rather than taking the piss out of The Witness. Which is also brilliant, love them both.

I've never played it. So I'd say no. I still thought it was great.

I pretty much just assume "Free To Play" games are full of microtransactions, is that wrong?

E: to be clear, I don't think microtransactions are an inherently bad thing. In fact, if people want to make games where other people with more money front the costs of development, I'm all about it.

What I hate is being reminded every 5 minutes that it has garbage skins that I can pay IRL money for.

Yes, there are good games that are just totally free. I've enjoyed the hell out of both ΔV: Rings of Saturn and South Scrimshaw lately. Both offer things you can purchase, but you get the full experience without them.

Also there are several really good open source games which are obviously microtransaction free. OpenTTD from this list is an example and Osu!lazer and SuperTuxKart also come to mind

I could have sworn rings of Saturn wasn't free

I thought I heard once that the demo is just the full version, but you can just also buy it to support the devs? That might be outdated or just wrong information though.

Yeah, the question for me is "are they shoving those things you can purchase down your throat every 2 minutes?" because I find that disgusting.

F2P with microtransactions isn't inherently bad. Legends of Runeterra is that way and is maybe the best-done F2P model I've ever seen.

I know Holocure isn't, but my gut reaction to F2P is to steer clear.

I have like 1000 hours in Warframe and only spent like 20$ on it. Even that wasn't really necessarily. You can farm shit and easily make enough of the in game money for what you need selling it to other players.

True, but there is nothing wrong with that really unless it's a multiplayer game where you get unfair advantages. It's hard to expect a f2p game to not have micro transactions.

Which is why I avoid them

Grimm's Hollow. It's free and has 0 micro transactions. Enioy my friend:]

That's so fucking stupid lmao. Crying about stuff that doesn't even do anything but make you look different.

I think you may have missed my initial reply where I stated specifically stated that I was not concerned about "stuff that makes you look different".

Don’t forget about Frog Fractions! It’s a great experience.

I loved Alien Swarm, although it's like just one episode from a big game. It's disheartening it's still like that. This game has a potential, especially for coop gaming. Just no content to flesh it out.

I remember playing the shit out of Alien Swarm back when it came out over a decade ago. It showed a ton of promise. It's a shame they haven't really fleshed it out since then.

Alien Shooter and Zombie Shooter series are direct inspirations to this Valve's experiment. Idk if they are good on your platform or if they are meant to play together with others, but I liked some of these older entries playing solo. Maybe you'd like them too.

There was Reaction Drop which added more content and the Workshop for user made stuff, but even then the extra time it'll buy you is limited.

I'll add Endless Sky in there as well. It's an open-source spiritual successor to EV Nova.

Why only free are u broke?

There are some surprisingly good free games, plus no money commitment means you can just kinda play them

Your mom's broke after I fucked her brains out last night

Haha so immature I guess thats why you dont have a job and need free games
